| Update on Peanut Well, I went to the vet on Tuesday afternoon. The vet said that my Peanut does not need surgery, it's just that his knee cap was out of the socket so he just popped it right back in! My brave Peanut didn't cry at all, he was a good little boy. Anyway the vet said that his knee will pop in and out and most of the time dogs learn out to put it back in on their own. They said later on down the road he may need surgery but not right now..So, my little guy is still limping around on it, not sure if it is out of the socket again but I guess I'll wait a few more days and schedule another appointment to tell the vet they didn't fix him. Today we get him groomed because he looks a mess! It's been raining here and his hair is all curly from being wet, he's gonna look so handsom later today! |

| Luxating Patella Is it luxating patella? Luxating patella is a common problem in toy breed. My maggie was diagnosed at her first vet visit when I bought her, its in both hind legs. You can place your hand over the knee cap and feel it click as you bend the leg. Mine was born with it, the knee cap grooves are too narrow or shallow. The knee can slip inward toward the body or toward the outside. She has only had one episode where she lifted her leg for about a half hour but went right on playing. She will sometimes skip and thats a sign of the problem It can also be caused by weak ligaments and tendons or muscles. Glad to hear there is no surgery necessary. |
