Animal Smiley 036 Luxating Patella

Is it luxating patella?

Luxating patella is a common problem in toy breed.
My maggie was diagnosed at her first vet visit when I bought her, its in both hind legs. You can place your hand over the knee cap and feel it click as you bend the leg. Mine was born with it, the knee cap grooves are too narrow or shallow. The knee can slip inward toward the body or toward the outside.

She has only had one episode where she lifted her leg for about a half hour but went right on playing. She will sometimes skip and thats a sign of the problem

It can also be caused by weak ligaments and tendons or muscles.

Glad to hear there is no surgery necessary.
