| Just neutered - HELP!!! Howie is back from getting neutered and at first he was fine. He didn't whimper at all in the car on the way home and ate some chicken and had a bowel movement. Now it's about 2 hours later and he's non-stop whining. It's kind of short, sharp, whiny breaths. They didn't send us home with any pain meds. I called the vet and they're closed for the day already. What do I do? Am I overreacting? I'm freaking out right now!!!

| Poor Howie. I hate it when vet dont give pain meds. You can give him 1/2 of A baby asprin. Just try to comfort him the best you can and I am sure he will be better tomorrow. When Jewels was spayed she shook all night when I brought her home but she was okay the next day

| oh hunny the poor baby. My vet sent us home with the pain meds....Louie needed them but Bella did not. Can you call an emergency vet to find out what would be safe for you to give. Good luck, hun and just lots of rest and cuddeling for that baby tonight.

| A heating pad on low will also help comfort him. I would feel safe in giving baby aspirin for a short time, but be very careful on the dosage - a 1/2 of a baby aspirin is for an 8 lb. dog. Buffered aspirin not coated - 5 mg. per pound - no tylenol, advil etc., - just aspirin. Crush it up and put it in food. Here's a link to aspirin dosages: http://www.school-for-champions.com/...th/aspirin.htm |

| Aw I am glad to hear he is doing a little better. I bet he will be back to normal tomorrow. When my Chachi came home he was jumping around and acting as if nothing ever happened. We had to calm him down

| He's back! Howie seems to be back to normal this morning!! We ended up not taking any asprin. I called the 24-hour emergency vet that my vet says to call on his recorded message and they were no help - they said that they couldn't even say whether or not half of a baby asprin was Ok or not b/c of liability reasons! So me and the pup headed off to bed early and got under layers of blankets and just snuggled. He woke up a few times during the night, but nothing major. So, YAY!! He's back! Thanks to everyone who helped me through my hysterics last night!
