| Rimadyl Does anyone have any information on Rimadyl? I did some research online....and there is a lot of controversy on it...My little Snookums was spayed 2 days ago, and the vet sent her home with rimadyl. Told me to give it to her for 4 days. (For pain management and inflammation). A quarter of a tablet....which equals 25 mg. I asked them if she needed to take it...they said it was up to me....I didn't like what I had read about the adverse reactions that could happen.... She had the laser surgery? If anyone has any information please contact me....I feel like I am depriving her from not giving her pain medication....but feel it is too risky to give her the Rimadyl. She doesn't appear to be in any pain..... |

| My Maggie was spayed last month and the Vet sent us home with the same medicine. I gave it to her only on the first night. She didn't need it. She was wearing us out trying to run after her and keep her still. We finally ended up give her some Rescue Remedy to calm her down. I'm sorry, didn't mean to go off the subject. I never read about Rimadyl.

| I dont remember what kind of pain meds mine got but I only gave them one and they didnt even need that. If she seems to not be in pain I wouldnt worry about the pain meds. I really think the Vets that give you pain meds are great though. They are good to have if you need them

| If the dog is healthy and has no liver or kidney problems then I feel safe using Rimadyl for a couple of days - it's really the long term use that is a problem. |

| When Reese was sent home from being spayed they gave her the same medication. I think I was giving her about the same amount that your vet suggested. She was spayed on a Friday and Saturday AM after the vet was closed, she was crying a lot. It was pretty scary, I called Tuffs Vet Hospital, which is also a Vet School, very well known, and they said that all Rimadyl is, is like Ibuprofen for dogs. They could not belive that was the only pain killer our vet had given her since it was such a major surgery. They had me increase the amount and she seemed to be a little better. But it was a good 2 or 3 days before she was back to normal. If your ababy is up and running around, I would not be worried, I only gave it to her b/c she was obviously in so much pain. Oh and btw, I have never hear of laser spaying??? I wish she had gotten that, she had a huge suture in her, it look very painful and she kept trying to lick it. Good Luck! Chiara
