I'm sorry about this and hope he feels better. What you need to know is the exact name of the parasite and then do some research on it. That should answer your questions. As far as getting the breeder to pay the vet bill, you can always ask but don't be surprised if she won't. She should know about this so the other dogs she has can get treatment.

Call the breeder, tell her how the vet check went, a common thing to do..tell her what the vet found...you will know in short measure what type of breeder you are dealing with...I think she is only responsible for the cost of worming...anyone who buys a pup needs a vet check after purchase...so the cost of the visit and non-parasite related fees are on you...but most importantly, the breeder needs to know her other dogs could be infested..good luck

i did get the dog checked the same day i got him. the vet never told me to bring in urine and stool. it has been about 16 years since i had a dog, so i really did not know. i am going to change vets, i really do not care for him. i decided after 5 days that the dogs urine looked weird, like a orange, gold, so thats when i called them and they told me to bring in the urine, so i decided to bring in both, urine and stool. i do not expect the breeder to pay for anything except the cost of treatment which is 29.00 x 2 and 28.00 for stool sample after treatment.
