| Yorkie food Hi I am just wondering if anyone here feeds just dry food to their yorkie ? I have finally found a dry food that my guy likes , he is sooo fussy. Its wee bits by solid gold, it contains bison meat. He is a terrible eater so we have been on eukenuba dry mixed with can but he snubs his nose at it and sneaks food from the dauchounds who have been on wee bits for a while now. I am really trying to get a feeding arrangement so no one finds pieces of anyone elses food. My yorkie eats in his crate or atlest snubs his nose at it and goes around like a scavenger after looking for anything the other dogs may have dropped in fact I was thinking maybe something like that makes for his diahrea that I posted about earlier today. I am starting a much stricter feeding system and have given my guy boiled chicken and rice he ate it right up and just went poop it was much firmer not like water but not completely normal either but a big improvement. I will deffinately take him to the vets tomorrow moring to be safe but I would love to know what you all find that your yorkie likes and is it dry or wet or both. I have only owned my guy for about 7 weeks he is 7 months old has had all his shots and has been neutered. Thanks so much |

| All my animals get dry only. Wet food can really hurt their teeth exspeciaaly if they are not brushed after. IS it the wee bits that is giving him the diarrhea? If not than that food should be just fine for him as long as it has all of the nurtients he needs

| I also feed my Yorkie Solid Gold but she gets the puppy version. I have never had any problems with her poop. The guy where I bought it from said this is their highest quality dog food nothing else will even compare to Solid Gold in their store. So I went with his word. And again that is what he said. I am sure their are alot of great quality dog foods out there. . I also want to add that I give her food to her dry! Last edited by myfirstyorkie; 05-01-2005 at 11:50 AM. |

| I feed Pip dried food. He can be a funny eater though - he takes a piece of the food away from his bowl and eats it and then returns to his bowl and takes some more away to eat. Sometimes I find food 'buried' under my pillow. Strange but lovely dog |

| I feed Jack a half a can of soft food mixed with dry for breakfast and dinner, and leave dry out for the middle of the day. He is 6 months old. He likes Ceasar puppy, and pedigree puppy dry. I guess I am lucky that he is not too finicky.

| You beat me to it. I was just going to post on this topic. I have had my 3 year old Sadie for 12 days. The breeder gave me quite a bit of her hard food, but she will not eat it. So, then I mixed it with Pedigree soft food, that the breeder said she also liked. I could not find the Chicken type Pedigree food she had, so I stayed with Pedigree, but got beef with gravy. The second day on it she threw it all up. I felt so bad for her. I decided this gravy type food was too rich for her little body. I went back to Walmart yesterday and they have the ground chicken in stock, it is mixed with beef and liver. She is back to normal, and I don't plan on changing food. Here is my question? Do these precious animals get bored with the same type of food day after day? I hope not, as she does well on what I have her on now. A lady next to me bought what Sadie got sick on. I asked her if she had a small dog. She said yes, it is a mix. I told her my dog got sick on it, and when I told her it was a Yorkie, she said purebreds have very sensitive stomachs. Is this true? I am beginning to think it is. What brands does everyone use? Thanks. Kate QUOTE=Adamsmom]Hi I am just wondering if anyone here feeds just dry food to their yorkie ? | I feed Pebbles Eukanuba and a very small piece of ceasar food. Then on Sundays I wll make her scrambled eggs one egg. It seems to be working okay, I also wonder if they do not get bored of eating the same food day in and day out. |

| Hi, I'm new to the forum - been lurking for a few days - and of course, finally have a question. My husband and I have a new Yorkie baby - Rowdy - I guess you could tell by my username. When do we start him on dry food??? We got him at 9 weeks and the lady we got him from gave us some of the dry food he was eating - she had been soaking it in water. He didn't seem too thrilled about it so we got him some canned food and mixed the soaked dry with the canned. He eats that pretty well. A week later my husband decided he would try him on the dry food without soaking it. Well, Rowdy absolutely loved it but he just gluped it down without chewing it - it's very small kibbles. Before my husband knew it, he had eaten quite a bit. The next morning he had one episode of diarrhea and wouldn't eat. We took him to the vet and he checked out just fine, no worms, no infection, probably overeating - and he was eating again by late afternoon with normal poop. Since then we have not tried him again on dry food and of course, we are very hesitant. I really would like to get him on the dry food, but I'm afraid he won't chew it and have trouble digesting it. Any suggestions??? |

| My breeder said no human food except for carrots and lettuce, but I see that lots of people feed their dogs eggs. Thanks. Kate Quote:
