I did do the Borax powder in the carpet today and when I vacuumed, fleas came up! I'm really hoping that this is going to nip it in the bud! I also gave the dogs flea baths and vacuumed their beds. I'm going to do the Borax treatment again in a few days and I'll let everyone know how it goes. Thor was still itching this evening after his bath but I'm assuming that he's just itching old flea bites. I HATE fleas!! Thanks for everyone's suggestions!! | |

| Please be very cautious using Advantix... there's some very scary stuff going on with this stuff... http://www.dogsonly.org/Woof/toast.a...&tid=29&page=1 |

| I hate fleas!!! Last year we had a flea problem. I finally had the pest control guy come out. He sprayed the house and yard. He said to really get rid of them you have to hatch the eggs. The vibrating from the vacumm hatches them. I had to vacumm twice a day for two weeks. I too have hardwoods. He said sweeping doesn't do the trick. The sprays and whatnot can't kill the eggs, if you get them to hatch them the chemicals work. He also said that the eggs can lay dormat for months. So vacumm like a wild woman. don't forget under beds and couches. I hope this helps. Also paul mitchell tea tree shampoo helps keep them off. It is great for their skin. A little pricey. I have also heard that the more you wash the less effective the spot treatments are. I use frontline every two weeks as well. Molly likes to get dirty so she gets 2 baths a week. Also if you treat the yard. Do the front, then wait a few days and treat the back. That way you can still take your dog out to the part that isn't being treated. Good luck. I know what your going through. I though we were going to have to leave home and bomd the place. Thank goodness I haven't had any trouble this year.

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | my little trick to get fleas to fall off is, spray your dog down with apple cider vinagar and water mixture, saturate your dog with this and then wrap them in a warm towel, the fleas will fall off, then bathe like normal, I usually leave her in the towel for about 5-10 minutes. |

| A Vet I had a long time ago told me about and older couple that couldn't understand why their house was infested with fleas because they didn't have a dog or a cat. After many questions and all, it was learned the older gentleman still wore pants with cuffs on them. That's how the fleas were getting in their house. When he would be out in the yard working or whatever they came in the cuffs of his pants. Once they bombed the house and he changed his style of pants, the fleas no longer were in their house. If they are in your house, so are eggs. I was told you need to treat the house first. When I had a poodle and our house became infested, While I bombed the house, I had the poodle in for a grooming and flea bath. No more fleas. Right now, Frontline Plus and Revolution work for us.
