| Another Yorkie????? Hello everyone!! It has been awhile. My computer has been out of commission lately. But, I have a concern. I have a 8 month old yorkie boy. I am still working on getting him completely potty trained but we are making very slow progress. We have some other issues that we are also trying to work at but in time, I think he has a lot of potential. He is a very smart dog when he wants to be. My concern is that there is a yorkie boy about 1 year and four months old that needs a home. The owner is an 80 year old woman whose health is failing and she can no longer take care of him. According to the his vet's office, he has all of his shots, he is not on any heart worm prevention and he has not been fixed yet. I went to see him at the vet's office and he looked terrible!! The lady had not groomed him the whole time she had him. He was completely matted. Other than that, he was very playful and happy and seemed to have the same temperament as my Sebastian. (Very Hyper and Busy) Do you think it is a good idea to adopt him with an eight month old at home who still needs work himself? I guess my goal would be for them to become buddies and maybe Andy (that's his name) could possibly show Seb a thing or two or vice versa. Seb hates staying at home by himself while I am at work. I thought this may help him with his anxiety and could make staying at home a pleasant experience. Any stories, suggestions, concerns would be great. Is two better than one? By the way, Seb is not fixed yet but he will be next month. Pictures will be coming soon!!

| I have 3 pups it's pretty much the same to potty train cause you let one out and you let the other out at the same time. If you think you can handle it i'm sure your pup would love a new companion |

| I have 4 ranging from 7 years to 15 weeks and its no problem at all. They all go out at the same time. They are baby gated when no one is home and use piddle pads when baby gated. Of course, Harley the baby will sometime take one of the piddle pads and play with it but it the center one that isn't tacked down. I say go for it! The more the merrier! |

| I just recently did the same thing you are thinking of doing. I had an 8 month old boy and found a 7 month old girl who was in need of a home. My boy was not potty trained that well so I was really thinking it would not be a good idea. I did it any ways because like you I leave for work ever day and thought it would be good for my little boy. I will tell the truth and say the first week and maybe even some of the second week I thought I had made a HUGE mistake. But now......I am soooo happy I did it. They are so great together and they are both doing EXTREMLEY well with their potty training. Of course I had to start complexly over with the training when I got the little girl but I locked them both in the same crate since they like to cuddle. I am able to let them out about 2 times a day and than they get free run of the house when I get home from work. It has been so much fun having another but it is a little more work. . I am sure if you have a little time and some patience at first it will defiantly be worth it in the end.

| My opinion is it would be a blessing to the 80 year old woman, and her dog, and your dog! I'm sure the woman loved the dog dearly, and wants a good home for him, but was just unable to take good care of the pup. Takes daily brushing, in which she might not have been able to do anymore, and if she is no longer able to drive, couldn't go get him groomed. I'm sure she meant well, but just can no longer do for him. I had Adonis 5 years before getting Venus. They really love eachother, and love playing out back when I take them out. They both go out at the same time together. When she gets totally trained, I know they'll play good inside too, and keep eachother company when I have to go somewhere. They both love to sit in the recliner with me and watch tv. All 3 of us, a family! Hey, for someone who had 1 Yorkie for 5 years, I can certainly say 2 are better than 1! So he's matted. Get him a puppy cut. I'm sure when brushed daily, he will be beautiful in no time flat. And if you can take care of 1, another isn't much more trouble at all. Yea, 2 are better than 1 for sure! |

| Thanks for the suggestions. I will keep everyone posted. I am so scared that Sebastian will feel like someone is invading his territory and will want to fight or bite, but at the same time, I think a friend will do him some good. I told myself that I would give it a try to see how things work out. I am expecting for it to be a little hard at first. Wish me luck!!

| Best of luck! I'm sure eveyrthing will turn out great. If you do end up bringing the new guy home, I'm sure the pups will get along just fine. I think it's very admirable what you're doing. I think I would have done that same thing if I were in your shoes.

| I have Cooper, almost 10 months old and I have just gotten Carley who is 6 months old. I will echo what someone else said, the first week was kinda rough. They loved each other the 1st day home, day 2 and 3 were very rocky. I was convinced I had made a mistake. But, now into week 3, it is great...they are over there playing now as I type. She isn't completely potty trained, but Cooper was. But, you do take them out at the same time and they get on each other's schedule. I think they are great company for each other..he seems a little less hyper to me, but it may be that he is just growing up too. It may take a little longer for 2 boys, but I am betting if you make it through that first week, you will be so glad. Good luck with whatever decision you make and if you do get him, let us see pics!! Also, if you do get him, I would get him neutered, as well. That would be a must, I would think!!

| I recently aquired a 3 yo when I had a 9 month old. I was a little trepidatious but I am so glad I did it. They get along well and I don't feel as guilty leaving one alone. It is fun having 2. My second one is housebroken though while my Mayzie is pee pad trained. Mo will use the pad if he is enclosed which is a blessing. Mayzie has even gotten caught up in the excitement of potty time outside and has gone there too! Wahhoooo I say go for it!
