Weird bald spots on head!???? Argh little problems keep coming with Princess I noticed this a while ago, but didn't think much of it TIL NOW... When she was a pup she would always jump and accidently hit her head on tables and stuff so she would usually have a little bruise on her head (im not sure if this has anything to do with it) that why she always has this spot on her head (and no its not a birthmark) Now as I was blowdrying her hair... I saw her scalp again!! It looks really... in my opinion bad... its all very white and pink and no hair is growing out from that area... all the other skin on her body is normal, but just on the top of her head its very like... I cant explain it... well kinda looks like you know when you burn yourself and some skin comes off and it turns pinkish.. looks like that... shes had this for a while and I thought it would go away but it looks weird... But the thing is I have never seen her trying to scratch her head or do anything to show that it is bothering her... I doubt its from the sun cuz we are in Washington.. we dont get sun (haha jk) she only goes out in the sun once in a while and I doubt its from her clips/bows cuz she usually only wears them when we go out and I dont do it too tight or anything. AND I know it has nothing to do with her shampoo.. I just dont know what it is!! I mean its has been like this for couple months and I was always hoping it would go away but it hasnt... should I take her to the vet? I dont want to if you guys think its unnecessary because what can the vet do? Help me someonnnneee!!

Layla also has bald spots! so glad there is somoene else out there. hers happened because she some how got scabs on her head.. maybe from scratching? then when the scab came off... bald spots! some areas have hair returning.. and some dont! her hair is relatively long so it covers the spots.. but i still know they are there!!

feels good to find someone else eh well i haven't gone to the vet yet because layla hates it there... we try and avoid stress plus she is completely fine otherwise.. right now i am keeping an eye on it.. and i stop her when she scratches.. plus.. some of the hair is trying to come back... but i think there will be two spots where it never will.. i have stopped putting clips in her hair for now.. and i don't blow dry her anymore after baths.. in case it was drying her out?? i want to bring her to the vet .. but i honestly don't know what he'll do.. i think if i notice more spots.. i will... it's weird because if she is scabbing. and it is coming off.. i'll take it out of her hair.. but hair comes with it... a chunk of it... but i don't notice this anywhere else... this is relatively new for us... so i am just going to keep watching it. let me know if you find anything out.. and i'll do the same!

For the bald spots after a rabies injection, I have heard that Vitamin E oil might help the hair to regrow and also I have heard that Preparation H will help. Have never had a bald spot so haven't tried either personally.

Have you ever put the hair up in a topknot? SOmetimes if I would leave the topknot in too long or it accidentally got too tight it would cause a little scab/sore and then hair loss. It always grew back though. Bonnie

Hmm ... my boy has a bald spot on his side, its quite big around about an inch in length. There was no scabbing or any damage there, I just happened to notice while brushing him one day. As I had to go the vets anyway, I showed it to him and he just said it was a "birth defect" and that it would always be bald and we just had to accept it. I have never heard that the rabies shot can cause balding, and it would of been roughly after his rabies shot that I discovered the baldness. Sorry don't really have anything to add to the original post, just now curious about balding after rabies shots (goes off to do a search).
