| I wet the hair under Tia's eyes and then use a metal flea comb to remove any eye boogies -- but I always make sure that I WET the hair first so that it doesn't hurt or pull. The hair doesn't have to be soaking wet -- just damp.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I just soak a cotton ball and gently try to soften it; you can then use a flea comb or just your fingers, it will come right out! |

| On Vet's Advice My vet said to only use cotton balls wet with warm water or saline solution. Wipe the goo gently until it is soft, and I also use a plastic flea comb and very gently tug a little so I don't hurt them. Vet also said to use human artificial tears a few times a week to clean out eyes and keep them moist. It's become a part of the everyday brushing routine.

| The cotton ball with saline solution is the best idea because they can develop bacterial infection and I would think this would help prevent that. I use the saline solution that people rinse their contacts in. It's best to do this at least every other day, if not daily. The longer you leave it the harder it is to remove. |

| I just took Chloe to the vet on Saturday for the same thing. Hers was a little worse, but he explained to me about how the tears drain through their sinus. When this gets stopped up, it comes back up through the tear ducts. He gave me some drops and within two days it was gone. You might need to check with your vet. Mine said to use the drops only until it clears up and then save it in case it happens again. |

| Humm, no wonder I call them boogers. I always used a damp warm washcloth. Now, thanks to you all, I see many other ways that might work better for us. |

| Just water. I was, however, advised by my Vet Assistant friend to use only 100% cotton, cotton wool balls or a cotton cloth (ie no man made fibers) as these can scratch the skin / eye ball. |

| I just use a washcloth with warm water nightly. Then when it is bath time we use this product called Angel's Eyes to remove tear stains because Bruce having light facial hair gets those as well. http://www.angelseyesonline.com
