I will be a nervous wreck until I read an update from you. I pray I will be reading some VERY good news on here soon. Why did they keep her? Was it to induce labor or did they say "c-section"? Surely they did an x-ray first and will determine what to do from there. If they do a c-section, ask them to keep one placenta for you incase the mother doesn't accept the pups. You rub it on the pups, she licks it off and accepts the pups. VERY important they get that first milk from her. Oh .... the wait is going to seem long even for me....

Just picked Lily and her babies up from the vet!!! My little baby had 5 babies of her own!!! That's right, I said 5! She is doing great as well as all of the pups....thank goodness! Ended up that when the vet was doing the c-section, he seen that she had ruptured or had a tear in her uterus..so he had to repair that....but other than that, no complications! He did say that 2 of the 5 pups seemed stronger than the other 3, but as far as he could tell, they were all in great health. For Lily to be so small, vet said that she had really good size pups. She took to them very well as soon as she come to...nursing and grooming them right away. I would like someone to explain to me how to tell boys from girls, because they all look the same to me. Vet doesn't like to check them for that until mother has bonded well with them. I'm sending pics for everyone to see!!! They are so tiny and precious.

First, congrats on the new litter. Secondly, the female will have a vagina by the anus/tail and the male will have a "bulb" covered with hair right below his umbilical area.

Just letting everyone know that it looks like we have 4 boys and 1 little girl!!! Does anyone know how long after a c-section does the mommy start feeling back to normal? I took Lily out to potty and she was stumbling around a bit. Also, she is extremely thin...she was a 'thick' 5 + pounds before she got pregnant and reached 7 pounds while pregnant......I wouldn't give her 4 pounds now!! Extremely thin now.....sunk it. Is this normal?

Yes , it is normal , she just had puppies .

Wow! I just wanted to say Congratulations! and I am so happy to hear mom & babies are well! I also wanted to say that this is a great Maternity thread! Wow...congratulations on the new babies. Looking at them it's hard to believe that they all fit inside her!! What a sweet mommy she is! She must feel so tired and sore right now. For those experienced with this...how long does it take the mom to recover from a c section?

Good luck with all of your new babies! I hope they thrive!
