Im getting ready to purchase my yorkie and i have a question

the breeder told me that shes getting better at eating..shes almost 3 months old but sometimes she doesnt and she does crash due to the hypoglycemia.. she only weighs 1lb 2oz but for the past 2 months I have gone to see her almost everyday I have fallen in love with this beautiful little girl but Im worried about the hypoglycemia, my boyfriend works 12 hour days and I would during the week only be able to get to her probably every 3-4 hours would she be safe and would she always have hypoglycemia and could that turn into diabetes, I'm just torn between it and I dont know what to do. Everytime Ive seen her she always has tons of energy. hes just the cutest little furball! If I am to get her what would you guys recomend omend?

you could give her nutrical everyday when you leave but i am wondering if there isnt something else wrong with her that she has hypoglycemia so often

thats what I thought, because the breeder said in the begining it was worse but now shes gotten alot better, she just doesn't eat sometimes and thats what worries me if Im gone for a few hours and something happens to her. I want her so badly but Im so scared of something happening I would be a mess how often would you give them the nurtical?

Three times a day a fingertip amount. I understand your fears I was going to adopt a girl that had hypoglycemic attacks but i am home all day
She died while i was waiting on her. I dont know if something else was wrong with her too though

Is there anyway to tell about the hypoglycemic attacks that maybe something else is wrong without going to the vet yet or no, or could it also be from a possibility that she wasnt eating? thats what the she said but I dont understand if she doesnt want to eat then shouldnt there be other problems or do small puppies do that?

If this were a pup that I had produced, this pup would be going nowhere. Given the age and the size and the hypoglycemia, I very strongly suspect there is something else wrong. It could be very serious.
I would never leave this pup on its own for longer than maybe an hour or two at best. I would not sell this pup to anyone. I would never recommend purchasing this pup.
If this were one of mine, I would be keeping it to at minimum a year of age, if it still was on this earth. By then, it would be showing me if there was anything further wrong with it or it would have gotten over whatever was going on.
Yorkies were not meant to be this size. Some are and are healthy but there is the greater risk that it is not. It could end up being a tragedy for you, or a series of very high Vet bills and that is assuming you have a Vet that knows what they are doing. Not all Vets have a clue about Toy dogs much less one this undersized.

Sometimes some puppies do have problems eating and that could cause th hyoglycemia. The vet would haveto do bloodwork to check for other things.

I am so sorry. You are aware that you are taking a risk here. You never know when the condition may decline etc. You mentioned you are in love with this pup, so I am assuming you are ready to provide everything necessary (medical needs).

I don't think it's our place to tell you to get her or not, but rather leave it up to you and send you our prayers.

would that consist of hypoglycemia because she doesnt eat or is there a reason she doenst eat, honestly I just want to know everything about there health right now and what I should suspect, my boyfriend doesnt think I should get her but wait to find another one.

I would asks for tests to be done before I purchased that pup. Specifically for livershunt (bile acid). I had a tiny one that had liver shunt, never got over 1 1/2 pounds and passed away at 4 months. This was my first experience with Liver Shunt and hopefully my last. I let the breeder know that I purchased her from (it was her first). She is in my avatar. When she died she could crawl underneath the bathroom door still. Those with bad livershunts stay very small. Do a search and you can find lots of info.

I'm sure that isn't the case, but you should be aware. I hate to see you get into a bad situation and get attached to a sick puppy.

First of all, a huge congratulations to you on becoming a new Yorkie Mom.

I would be very concerned about bringing home a yorkie that was crashing at 3 months of age. Please, please have a vet thoroughly check out this little one, and be sure to do a complete blood panel. Small size, hypoglocemic episodes and poor eating habits are all symptoms.

Can you have your own vet take a look at her?? Usually in the breeder's contract it states that you have a few days to take the puppy to your vet and have her checked out. I hope everything works out for you.

Theres no way without a vet testing her doing bloodwork and a bile acid test to know if she has something besides just hypoglycemia. If you get that up without the tests you are taking a gamble

I thinkI might just have to start looking again because I dont think I could handle having a puppy with that many problems...heck Im already scared about getting her spayed and I dont even have her yet And her brother that is there is pretty much half the size of her I think she is maybe the runt but would that even matter?

It just depends many breeders have healthy runts. She does not sound healthy though. My girl that died was the runt also.
