| Yorkie Personalities I have had Sadie for 8 days now. I love her more each day. From what I am reading on this forum, all Yorkies basically have the same personalities. Does your Yorkie(s) follow you everywhere in the house, and outside? Love to lay on your lap? Hardly bark? This may not apply to a baby Yorkie, as mine is 3 years old. I am just curious as I would buy another one in a heartbeat I love Sadie's personality. Also, I noticed on the YT homepage, at the top, there is a heading that says "Yorkshire Terrier Warning". Is this spam? Thanks. Kate |

| I think that they have a lot of the same traits and breed behaviors, but personalities? No way! My two girls are as different as night and day, and they both crack me up, but in different ways. |

| Their pics are darling. It just does not seem like you can go wrong with a Yorkie. My girlfriend had one, and while she laid in bed dying, that pet did wonders for her. I will never forget that, and since then I have always loved Yorkies. Kate Quote:

| I don't think they have the same personalities at all. And I wouldn't hesitate to get another (I have one that is 1 1/2 and in a couple of weeks I am picking up another.) I would have 10 of them if I could. Baxter is a good boy. He doesn't bark all of the time-I KNOW if there is someone or something on the property right away though. He will bark once in awhile when playing with the boys, but he isn't a yapper. He is so sweet. He likes to play and be a little crazy sometimes, but he also loves to cuddle. He will sit on my lap and nuzzle his nose on my shoulder. He follows me EVERYWHERE I go-he has since he was a puppy. Soooo cute. He's a sweetie. I have heard that boys lean more towards the women in the house and females gravitate towards the male in the house...I guess I will see.

| I think they all share some traits- but just like people their personalities can differ from yorkie to yorkie - some are agressive and dominant - some laid back and submissive. But they are all wonderful

| to answer some of your questions.... Yes, he follows me everywhere, even when hes in a dead sleep , he'll get up , just to follow me. As for the lap dog?? When he wants to.. not when I want,,, If I wanna cuddle he'll get down,,, But If he wants,,, it doesnt matter what your doing, gotta drop everything!! As for barking... he will not bark if someone comes to the door... he just gets all excited,,, " someones here"!! BUT if you walk passed the house,,, especially with a dog... look out hes tearing around from window to window! Its strange,,, not much of a watch dog if ya come to the door,, hes just HAPPY to see ya!

| i have to agree with amiee, yorkies have some of the same traits but they all have their own unique personality. Does your Yorkie(s) follow you everywhere in the house, and outside? Yes, all the time. Love to lay on your lap? Yes, but only when she's tired or chewing on a toy or bone. Hardly bark? Nala loves to bark especially at the other dogs, but we're going to obedience school in may to try and cut down on the barking. |

| My two yorkies are completely different. My male is all play. He barks and hes not really a cuddler. My female follows me from room to room. Shes laid back and quiet and cuddly. So they can have different personalities.

| Maddie and Rudy are day and night. Maddie is layed back and is an angel and tolerates all of Rudy's bad habits. lol Rudy, what can I say about Rudy, he is a barker and wants to be first at everything. Open a door and he is gone, but he does look back to make sure you are chasing him. Like Browniesmom said I haven't been any where by my self in a long time. Thank god I live by myself because I can't even close the bathroom door or they will have a fit. Get out of the shower and they are waiting on the rug. Both of mine have there cuddle moment, when the want it. They are addictive, will be getting my third in a few weeks, can't wait.

| My Jack (6 months) follows me eveywhere, he has seen me naked more times than my Husband,LOL. I have found different ways to get dressed as he is always trying to grab whatever I am putting on, socks, panties etc, and run with them One of these days I am going to be chasing him trying to get my bra when someone will come to my door (it has a window). But I Love Him and wouldn't change him for the world.

| My baby does follow me everywhere.. She will wait outside the shower till I finish my bath, she will stand by me if I'm cooking or on the phone, etc. If Im in my bed she will always bark in a certain way to tell me she wants to be with me, and at night when we go to bed she gets al crazy and LOVES to play jumping around the bed and making us play with her, If I'm working on the computer she will walk right on top of it like "pay attention to me" And YES she will bark when she is playing sometimes with us or sometimes by herself... She makes me laugh so much just to see her fighting with her toys, Yorkies just need to talk to be like us!!!! |
