| Every week I visit the mall pet store to look at what they have in stock. I would NEVER consider buying a pet there but it is interesting to see when they have yorkies how sad and sick they look. Moreover, I always ask the price and 2 weeks ago a 8 week old one was 2,800!

But not that I think of it, a few years ago I WANTED a pet store dog for all of the reasons people tell me not to get one. I'd rather get one(even if it gets sick) and give it a good life even if its only for a year or two. Its not its fault some evil people had him created under bad circumstances. That'd be like some people that dont adopt children from countries that they've heard may have issues, or dont take babies with medical conditions or deformaties(for lack of a better word). I absolutely understand not getting one b/c you dont want to go through the heartbreak, and dealing with issues they may have will be time consuming/expensive, which brings me to another thing that bothers me. Us normal everyday people should have the "perfect" yorkies from breeders without medical conditions etc. But you always see highly rich celebs with small dogs that they probably paid 3x what we did just to have them as accessories. Those people should be the ones trying to help the pet store dogs/abused dogs b/c they can afford to care for that kind of situation. I guess that's just in a perfect world. Anyway, i'm not attacking anyone, just thinking outloud. I guess its just personal since If I was adopted i'd probably be passed around b/c of things I dealt with at the beginnig of life, only to turn out to be an absolutely normal adult. I wasn't adopted, or given up for adoption...but I could still give back to the furballs! | |

| I guess I get upset when people assume that all pet store puppies are sick or will get sick. I know a few people with pet store dogs and non of their dogs got sick. they have these babies as family pets for many years. At the pet shop we have here, the dogs do not look sick. They seem very hand friendly, playful and clean. I also know people who went to breeders and got puppies who were sick... or that had problems later... I get the feeling that some people feel like dogs that come from pet stores are not as good in some way... I don't believe any one dog is better then another...some get sick and some don't. Some die and some get better. They all deserve good homes for as long as they have. I hope Chewy stays healthy, but if he doesn't I'll love him any way and I'll take the best care of him I can... I just wish people would understand that what they see in one pet store is not the same every where...and unless i go to the place that Chewy came from I will never know if it was clean or dirty or a kennel that may have been half way decent or some horrible puppy mill....he deserves love no matter what.
