| OMG Bad Mommy and Bad doggy So the other day I was in my bedroom I have a 5 mo baby and a baby monitor WHen I out him down for a nap I put him in my room. So I had my door closed and I kept smelling something like it was hot or melted b u couldnt find anything so brushed it off. I started picking up some things my daughter had left in there and ther is the strip I plug my laptop etc into I kind of pushed it over with my foot and something burnt me . I reached down and unplugged the hot item ( it has one of those big square plugs) It was smoking hot . I couldnt see how it could be so hot as my monitor was brand new and I had not used it in a long time.I pulled the cord towards me and found the cause ... Ritz had chewed . He must have done it some time when he was on my bed. My sons prota crib sit even with my bed and ritz must have crawled off the bed and into his crib and chewed away. I was SHOCKED! So I am thinking ok ritz is in trouble and started putting all cords etc. out of the way. SO yesterday I let my guard down. I was on my bed using my laptop aAnd one of the kids needed something so I left ritz where he was at. Came back and my mouse did not work. SOmetimes I have to reboot and it will start working. did it unplugged, plugged back in. A little box comes up that says there had been a power surge in a USB hub and to unplug the item. grrr... Run my hand up the cord . sure enough he had chewed it . He is now on house arrest. Unless someone is with him or we can see him he has to be in his ex pen until I figure out how to keep him and US safe. I feel like a bad skin and fur mommy. I cant believe I could have burnt our house down. That plug on the monitor was SO hot. It took it like 45 min after I unplugged it to cool off and the square looking transformer was melted and distorted. I have some bitter apple and had sprayed everything but I guess I will need to do it again Bonnie |

| Wow! That was a close call. Fortunately, you are not alone. Both my dog and cat have chewed out power cords while I sleep. They were both babies and teething so now I know better when I get my baby yorkie soon My husband coiled all the cords to the computer, lamps, and other appliances and secured them with zip ties. We then either covered them up or placed them in between items. I got used to having to plug in things before I used and unplugging them afterwards. Whenever we left, the poodle went with us........but of course my indoor house cat didn't. I made sure I kept him in a room with his toys and condo. They are adults now and don't chew things up, but nevertheless, they both act like little children at times Now, you just have to keep a close eye on them and good luck

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Scary, luckily everyone was ok. I just bought my dtr a laptop and I can't believe how hot that box attached to the cord gets. I told her to never leave it plugged in over night or when not is use. Also a lot of laptop battery's are being recalled for fire reasons.

| Good thing he's on house arrest. Bad things could happen to him and your house/family if not. That is a very dangerous situation.

| How frightening. There are a number of products that are available to group and hide cables. I just bought some gray tubing from Ikea the other day, and I've seen many types of tape, runners, and stiff plastic tubes at Home Depot and Lowe's. Maybe something like that could be the solution. Good luck. |
