Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Maddie's such a good girl! OK, so I've always thought it would be best to start training new dogs right from the start. so, I decided today to start teaching her "stay." I brought her out back, and (because I'm worried that she could get under the fence) I hooked on her leash, a run, and another leash. that way she could walk around and I wouldn't have to hold onto something, but could stop her if she tried to run. anyway, I started short just having her sit in one spot. eventually, I got to the point where I could walk to the other side of the yard and back without her moving. and then I got to the point where I could sit her in the middle of the yard, and walk the perimeter of the yard without her moving. Another small thing that she can do, is I have her walk next to me, then say "stay" and keep walking, and she'll stop. I know it seems like a lot for one day, but she's learning SO fast, and she really only has to remember 1 command to do all of it, because she comes naturally lol. the best part is, the only reward she wants is a belly rub! the other dogs won't do squat unless they're getting treats! haha. She's such a little angel. I love her to death!

| Good girl. I train mine without treats too. If they're only doing it for treats, they won't be reliable. I cannot believe how fast mine both picked up STAY too. Now we are working on them sitting when I stop. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Wow, sounds like Maddie should be teaching you, Megan: "Clean your room! Go to school. Woof." Seriously, she sounds like a smarty. Keep up the good work!

| Hi Megan, I am so glad that Maddie is adjusting well and that you love her so much. I am beaming from afar that she is such a fast learner and that she has such a great trainer. Although I miss her truly I know the decision was the right one. Maddie and I both got very lucky. Keep up the good work!! Can't wait to see some more pics. )

I can't thank you enough for letting us have this little girl! she's a true blessing! Now that I've really had time to bond with her, I can easily understand why it was so hard for you to give her away. She seems really attatched to me (in fact she's sitting on my lap right now ) thanks so much! thank you everyone. We perfected come yesterday. I didn't really have to teach her anything, just give her a command to go along with it.
