1..2..3.. more?? I got Layla in late may.. she is now 5 1/2 months old.. my mom has just brought up the idea of getting her a "playmate" as she calls it :P i was wondering what anyone thought about the pros and cons of having more than one Yorkie... should they both be girls?? what would be the ideal age to introduce a sibling to layla? i can GUARANTEE there will be jealousy.. lol. she is one spoiled pooch! any thoughts would be great... my parents aren't sold on the idea yet but i thought i'd do some "research" and see what i can come up with. thanks!

| I'm sure that if Your girl likes other dogs right now, then She'll not have problems with other dog in the house. I'm planning to get another girl in Year or so, BC i think that it's a lots of fun to have at least 2 pups

Oh WOW, look at that tub of Yorkies! I definitely would recommend getting another baby. I can't wait to get another Yorkie.....but probably in 2 more years, once I get my own house. I can't imagine 3 dogs running around my apartment!

I am so glad we got Piper for Misha. We thought the same about Misha, would she accept her? would she be jealous? Misha was and is very spoiled. We got Piper when Misha was about 8 months. They are the best of friends now. Misha still gets a little jealous here & there, but nothing compared to the joy Piper gives her. I love having 2 girls, but if my husband would let me, I would like to get them a little brother next. I was thinking Misha my Maltese, Piper my Morkie, & a little boy Yorkie. I know now it is impossible, do to all the vet bills. Maybe in a year. With getting all their shots this 1st year, along with getting them fixed, teeth extraction, ear infections, Piper having Giardia & coccidia when we first got her, Grooming for Misha, Potty pads that we go through a lot. We have spent thousands of dollars. We call them Our million dollar babies.

I have three yorkies right now. Beau was my first and I got Bisous when Beau was about 8 months old. They are totally best buddies. He is very protective her. The cutest thing was when she had puppies. She totally trusted him with the puppies right from the first day. He slept in the puppy bed with mom and the babies all the time and when Bisous needed a baby break, he was right there to cuddle them and keep them warm. It was the most amazing thing as I had anticipated that there may be problems with him trying to get to close and her chasing him off. Definitely not the case. Thus, the puppies had two moms, mom and mr. mom. I definitely encourage to have more than one yorkie!

I have 2 yorkies and before I got my second one, I was really apprehensive about the whole jealousy thing and just messing up a good thing we had with Hobbs. It took Hobbs about 1.5 weeks to get adjusted to Hootie, but ever since then, it has been smooth sailing! I would not take it back for anything in the whole world!!!! Hobbs really has been a huge help getting Hootie potty trained...Hootie watches Hobbs and does everything he does! It is so cute! You should DEFINATELY get a second one! I don't think the age of your older yokie matters too much. I would probably wait until your older one is potty trained before you get a second one, unless you have a lot of time to devote to training 2 at the same time.

The more the merrier...... I have 4 Yorkies 2 boys and 2 girls and work a full time job. I don't keep them all together because my males are VERY jealous of each other...so they are definately a part while not being watched. I enjoy spending my time with them so it isn't too much for me to handle. Bath time as someone mentioned earlier takes a little time. Minimum of 1 1/2 hours just to wash and dry and do a little clipping. But, like I said I really enjoy spending my time with them. They are all so different and unique and I can't imagine life without any one of them. My thoughts on another Yorkie is: GO FOR IT!
