| Is it so impossible to love BOTH?!? Before I had my son (he's 8 now) so many people told me that my love for my pets would change after I had children. I'd be talking about something cute my dogs did (I used to have two poodles) and they'd say something like "Oh that will change when you have children". Or "You probably won't want them in the house after you have the baby". Then the other day I was telling this new friend of mine about this messege board and how much you all love your furbabies and about all the cute pictures and things and she said "They must not have kids". So here is my question: Why do people think that you can't have so much love in your heart for a pet after you have children?!? I didn't change after I had my son. As a matter of fact he is as much of an animal lover as I am and has said since he was 4 that he's going to be a vet when he grows up. I love my son more than life itself but there is also room in my heart for my little yorkie Bentley, my yellow lab, and my two cats who ALL live in the house with us. |

| Some people think that way because they put their love in a box and limit the capacity that THEY can love. I say, the more you love the more love you have to give..... |

| I have four children and we have four dogs and we love them all. My dogs are part of the family as much as my kids are. Some people just don't understand how it is. My dogs think they are people, and I don't tell them any different.

| Do these people have yorkies? I have a son and we both love our baby so much. I cant believe they would have both if they say things such as that. |

| I have three kids which are grown now and also have two grandchildren, but I can certainly love all of them AND a dog. We had dogs and/or cats while our kids were growing up, and we managed to love them all. |

| I just think that these people have never been able to be in love with an animal. Some people have NEVER had furry love! I have always loved animals...all animals...even snakes ...and I have a 7 year old girl and a 3 year old boy and they both love animals ...Katie and Daphne are a part of our family...we love them when they play and when they are grumpy! Make absolutely no difference if they have fur or not!

| That is odd. Maybe they have never had pets and kids together. Some of the best stories come from the interaction between the dogs and the kids. It's like saying once the second kid comes you won't love the first one as much. Weird |

| I love all the answers people gave. Honestly, some people are not animal people. I have people looking at me very strangely when we "acquire" another animal around here. Between the horses and dogs, there's constant change. My hubby has rescued probably about 10 horses in the past 6 years. Most have been adopted out, but it's traumatic every time one leaves. We've had a total of 9 dogs in the past 20 years... right now with 3 in the house, people think I'm insane. But gosh, my kids love animals as much as Mike and I do, and they are learning alot about life through our losses too. And about nurturing etc. People just don't know what they're missing out on! deb |

| Absolutely! The more love you give - the more you receive! My son used to call our house "Animal Kingdom". Between all of the large plants, 1 blk lab, 2 cats, 1 cockatiel, and whatever else my hubby "found" - we just thought of it as a full house Infact, I think that's what I'm afraid of - an empty nest - I can't keep up with a houseful anymore, but I couldn't be without one furry family member!!! I feel really sad for people who can't love an animal... they give soooo much unconditional love!
