| I fully groomed my Yorkie for the 1st time ever! It took me 2 days to do it, but I did it! I gave her a bath (the first time I ever gave her a bath I had no idea what I was doing b/c it was my first time bathing a dog and I poured the water over her poor head and I ended up taking her to the vet for an ear infection). Ever since then, I always religiously took her to the groomers b/c I didn't trust myself bathing her again. Anways, I digress... so I gave her a bath the proper way, trimmed the hair on the corner of her eyes, plucked her ear hairs using powder, cleaned her ears w/ a solution and cotton balls, trimmed her nails, and trimmed her belly, potty areas, and all along the insides of her legs! The only thing I have left to do is tip her ears when they need to be tipped. I feel so much closer to my Yorkie now and so happy! Just wanted to share . Thanks to this board I made the best discovery ever- Whal Peanut clippers from Sally Beauty Supply... the pet clippers I bought at the pet store were dull and too big. |

| Hehe so are you still planning on taking her to the groomers, or are you going to do it yourself from now on? I always groom my baby.. epecially after hearing all of the "horror stories" from bad groomers.. Also, I read this many times before, but I forgot.. why do you have to pluck the hairs inside the ear? I don't do it.. but is it really necessary, or it just for better looks? |

| Congrats on the successful grooming. You are brave in my eyes. I am afraid I might mess up or even worse hurt Louie while trying to trim his hair. I don't think he would be still. What did you use to trim your baby? (clippers/scissors?)

| Wow! I'm impressed! I keep thinking I want to give it a try, then wimp out and off we go to the groomers. I especially like the part where you said you feel closer to your yorkie now. Umm, we'd love to see pics!

| I have been grooming our oldest (3yr) old yorkie's hair for some time now. She has an extremely thick cottony coat. I do it over a period of days also, so it doesn't seem like such a chore. One day I will do the bath and the ears, say, and maybe the next the body, or the head and face. It seems to be less traumatic on all of us. I came accross a website that had the cutest clothes and the most interesting haircuts on small dogs that I have seen. I have been trying to copy the one with the body having short hair and letting the hair be longer from the knee down to resemble boots. Its really kinda cute on her, and I have left her head and face long to show what thick hair she has. When you groom yourself there are really many more options to explore than just the typical long style or the short puppy cut. |

| That is so cool!! I am so afraid of hurting my babies. I would love to do it myself as my groomer had a baby and not grooming anymore. After the horror stories I am afraid to trust another groomer. Plus they'll probably keep the girls all day. I need to figure something soon!! Anyways congrats to you!! |

| Thank you. I love Yorkie Talk. I can't believe so many members belong. The website is Petfavors.com. Of course, I didn't dye my yorkies as in the pictures, just liked some of the different cuts. They are pictured in the clothes for sale area. |
