All mine have tails although i did have one that had a docked tail. I prefer the undocked look, not because my country has made it illegal, its my own opinion. I love to come home from a day out and see my babies with their full tails wagging. Nobody can say for deffinate wether docking hurts or doesn't hurt pups, however it must hurt them as they cry. Ok so they might only cry for a couple of seconds, but that means the pup was in pain for a couple of seconds. I do agree that docking is done for vanity, as showing is all about how the dog looks. But each to their own, and as your american breed standard includes docked tails, carry on. I also don't understand how docking is done to prevent injury?????? what about other breeds with full tails???????? I have never heard of a yorkie that hurt its tail?????? |

You could be right about the whole society thing, however we did use to dock our yorkies tails in England and i didn't like it then either. But maybe the younger generations in our countries, that have only grown up knowing yorkies with tails or without, will base their opinions on what society has taught them ;) |
No,Im just gonna wait around now until someone tells me a GOOD, no actually,a GREAT reason why these little guys should have this done, and my question for the breeders about how many of your pups have been bought as show dogs, and how many have made it bigtime-you know, enough for their tales belig lopped worth while. Im still waiting!!!;) |
As I said before,I had apoodle with a docked tail,I had no choice as by the time I knew about him to buy him the deed was done, had I have known about him I would have said "dont do it,Ill take him as nature intended, with a big waggy tail!!!" I got him 15 years ago by the way! |

JUst a thought, there are still breeders over here that dock tails, ilegally. Would any breeders consider that in America or Canada should the Law be passed there?? Seems that some people there are as much for docking as I am against it! Just wondering! We in England not only care for our own animals,we also take an interest in all others too! Even overseas. |
