Excuse me but there are breeders and then there are breeders. Many years long time reputable show breeders are not just breeders. They are totally immersed in the breed and often know way more than many Vets do about their particular breed.
I never said anything about all dogs should have their tails docked I don't believe they should
You obviously have not read the article as to how the tails are injured and it isn't by shutting a door on the tail. Quite frankly I don't care what England wants to do or not do with their dogs.
I do know I would fight it if someone stuck their nose in our business here in Canada or the US and tried to tell us we could not dock tails.
JMHO which I am entitled to as you are to yours.

vets no more about injury to dogs than a breeder does as its the vets that they take the dog too. also you said that yorkies should have there tails docked to prevent injury, yes? well then shouldnt all breeds have there tails docked to prevent them from injury then? that was all i was saying. also i never said anything about your country or any other country banning docked tails, but when the uk does ban them which will inclued the kennel club stateing show yorkies are to have undocked tails it might follow in other countrys but thats up to those countrys. i dont know about all yorkies but i do know about mine and when they were pups i didnt care about what they looked like i just wanted them healthy and i wasnt going to put them through pain so they could have a docked tail, i wouldnt do it and i dont agree with it but if someone else wants to then thats up to them and there choice and i wouldnt think they were horrible people or anything like that.

Anyone have a picture of one without the tail being docked? I dont recall ever seeing one and would like to see what they look like with long tails. Sounds pretty to me. Would someone please share their picture of one with a long tail ?

sorry i dont think i have one that shows there tail mindyou tye and zac have not got very nice hair so it doesnt look as nice as others ive seen,when they have long silky hair it looks really lovely.:)

That is a very good point,if yorkies are at risk of injurind their tales all dogs are! Ridiculous! :thumbdown

I see the way this is flowing and still I am going to say that I prefer the docked tails. Opinions were asked for and this is mine. I have nothing against the long tails.

i agree with you i also prefer the docked tail look but i wouldnt put my pups through it, its all about choice and everyone to there own.:)

Thats fine,was your little one docked when you had her? Have you ever took pups to have their tales docked because call me soft but I just havnt got the guts to hurt an animal for any reason! By the way she is way too cute!

If you mean me, yes, I had the tail docked....she was in my litter. I truly don't want to sound like a hyprocrit (sp?), but I dread that day. They are just fine afterward, but I am a mess....sick, worried, parranoid...ready to rush back to the vets in a heartbeat. I get the tails and dew claws done at 3 days old. Aftter this 3rd day has ended, I breath easier and enjoy these new little lives. The first 3 days I sleep very little for many reasons (pups do not produce enough body heat to keep them warm if seperated, mothers will not rescue a pup tangled in long hair or stuck under a blanket or even her for that matter, and every little squeak has me running to make sure everything is just fine). And if it is my little girl you are talking about being cute, thank you VERY much!

ive two 12 year old yorkie boys tye and zac and they are the pups i bred, well i say I BRED i had the mum and dad and they had a one night stand lol and along came tye and zac. i never had them docked and have never had any dog docked and wouldnt, annie ive only had since easter shes 6 and she was already docked and brandi ive had since xmas and is about 17 months old and a rescue so was already docked. i have seen tails docked on video and its not nice.

Hipocrit (I dont know if Ive spelt that correct either!!!) Only joking! :D It just seems so damn cruel,but each to their own. Anyway,Id be breaking a law if I did it so I can sleep at night without the worry. You bought up another good point,dew claws. Neither of mine have had theirs removed and Ive heard that should be done however the vets have not mentioned anything to us when we have been. Is it a problem they havnt had them removed?

Well, first, I think we are both spelling it incorrectly:p . I don't get the tails docked because of a danger to them. However, that is the reason for getting the dew claws removed. If those darned dangly little things get injured, it is extremely painful to the dog. Your vet won't say anything about them not being done unless there is an injury. Some are left on on purpose for agility training.
