| I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | My vet also told me this when I first got Stedman. He was mainly concerened because he had seen alot of really bad cases of Parvo this year, and didn't want me taking any chances because it is SO contagious. He advised me not to take him to any pet stores, the park, etc. where there could be feces infected with the ParvoVirus, or even areas where feces could have PREVIOUSLY been, because dogs can still get it even after the area has been cleaned if it wasn't cleaned with Bleach (this is about the ONLY thing that kills the ParvoVirus). However, after he had all of his shots it was fine to take him wherever I wanted I'm SURE it will be fine to let your new addition around the one that you already have now so long as she (the dog you have now) has all of her shots Good luck and congrats on your new baby!!!

| thank you, thats good, yes dixie has all her shots so we should be fine. I wont take him out till he has all his shots, when i got dixie my vet told me not to even take her in my yard because of damp grass, so I didnt. Peanut wont go outside either till he has all his shots .

| yorkieusa said: He is precious! You just want to be aware that there are a few diseases that a baby can bring home that your doggie can catch. If the breeder is spotless, you shouldn't have to worry about it. Have fun i wanted to let you know, i picked peanut up today and took him to the vet soon after.....and rather than write a book, just let me say he is sick i have to keep him away from dixie so she doesnt get anything .......so he is in the living room in a huge crate when he isnt asleep on me. dixie has run of the kitchen for now...i wont let her in here and im not letting him on the floor just cage and my lap. after i hold him i wash up real good before i play with her or hold her....the vet said dixie should be fine......he is on meds for 10 days then go back for a re check..and i will take dixie in too, have her checked to be sure.......hamburger/rice, nutrical and karo syrup. nutrical every 2 hours so ill be up all night, i was going to nap in between, but i cant sleep...i keep looking at him and crying ....so ill be up all night nursing my babyplease say a prayer for peanut to get well soon thank you elaine

| When we got Piper she had a vet appointment the next day. I'm glad I kept her away from Misha until she was checked. Piper had Giardia & coccidia which is contagious. Got her treated & it saved me, having to have Misha treated. Last edited by Pipersmommy; 08-18-2006 at 09:17 AM. |
