My vet also told me this when I first got Stedman. He was mainly concerened because he had seen alot of really bad cases of Parvo this year, and didn't want me taking any chances because it is SO contagious. He advised me not to take him to any pet stores, the park, etc. where there could be feces infected with the ParvoVirus, or even areas where feces could have PREVIOUSLY been, because dogs can still get it even after the area has been cleaned if it wasn't cleaned with
Bleach (this is about the
ONLY thing that kills the ParvoVirus). However, after he had all of his shots it was fine to take him wherever I wanted
I'm SURE it will be fine to let your new addition around the one that you already have now so long as she (the dog you have now) has all of her shots
