| Hershey broke his leg.. I'm so heartbroken. He's only 5 months now and he can't even run around like he used to because he has this awful cast on. anyone have experiences similar to this? He is not fully grown and im afraid his broken leg will later be shorter than the rest of his other legs.. doctor says he has to be on the cast for a good 6~8 weeks and it breaks my heart that he can't run around like he used to. Im so frustrateddddd why does this have to happen to him?!

| leg Never had a puppy with a broken leg..but I have had an adult. Make sure yiu have frequent checks to be sure the cast is not too tight..pinch the toes from time to time and make sure he yelps...more Yorkies loose their legs due to a cast not properly done. Clemmie was in cast for 5 months...her leg was badly broken by jumping off the couch the wrong way...but you would never know it now...and she still jumps off the couch! I could stangle her. |

| Awww, the poor baby. We had a puppy (I think she was around 7 months old) who broke her leg when I was little from jumping off the couch (seems to be a trend) -- my parents had to keep taking her back to the vet and getting the cast reset. Anyway, she ended up FINE and lived a very long and happy life. She kept up with me!

| Hershey got too excited one day and i guess he jumped off my bed in a wrong way, because after he landed he startd yelping. thats when i rushed him to the emergency vet and they told me his leg had been broken. but he could lose his leg?! oh no.. he stepped on his water bowl once accidentaly so i had to go back and recast his leg. im very worrieed and i hope that he will be ok.. I feel like his wasting his "Childhood" (lols) just sitting away on a couch with me hwen he could be running around playing fetch. sigh im just so worried.

| OOOhhhh, poor Hershey! That has always been one of my biggest fears because Hefner is so fearless and these little guys are so fragile. I have put steps for him to get up and down off my bed and the couches. They say they shold not jump off anything higher than their shoulder. I was taking pictures of Chai and he jumped off the little table I had her on and she yelped and wouldn't use her left front leg for amlost three hours! I felt so bad and it was so scary. I am sure Hershey will be fine. Just do what Pat says and keep checking the cast. |

| I am so sorry about Hershey's leg. Sound like you are keeping a close eye on him. Before you know it he will back to his old self. Got a lot of good advice from some great members to watch for. Take care.
