| Remi and other dogs. Guys, I dont know why, but for some reason Remi is not too comfortable with other dogs. When we meet other dogs on the street, he either runs away from them or starts barking at them. I would like him to be a bit more friendly with other dogs. All I can do is say "sorry" to other dog's owners. Does this mean that he is not used to other dogs? He is also not happy with new people coming to the house, or outside on the street. What can I do to make him more dog friendly? Thanks Dave & Remi |

| take him to puppy kindergarten, or just basic training at a place like petsmart. he'll be socialized and learn manners around dogs and ppl

| Well, I dont have much time for that as I work 5 days a week. Local dog parks are taken by large dogs, and most Yorkies that we meet there are feeble 4lb dogs. Remi is 9 lb male. Remi is very active and loves to play all day long. I take him to a park and we play with a tennis ball, but it would be nice if he played with some other dogs as well. I am afraid of letting him deal with big dogs( they can snap his neck in 2 seconds). And the medium and small sized dogs are either not interested or scared to deal with Remi. He acts strange, alert almost, either attacks(barks) or runs away from other dogs, even when they mean well. |

| Petsmart has beginning classes that are only 1 hour per week for several weeks. They usually have evening and Saturday classes. Megan is right, those classes are primarily for socialization with people and all kinds of other animals in the store. I saw some very unsociable dogs become very friendly when I took Sara there. |

| Socialization is very important for dogs, it can turn to a real problem. My neighbor's yorkie can't be around other dogs becuase he gets so nervous he pees on himself. Since you live in NYC like me I take my Nyx to Petco for those classes and they start real late 7pm. If classes are not convenient join one of the many meet-ups. Don't worry about the bigger dogs too much Nyx is only 1lb 7oz and she plays with the 23, 30 even 70lbs dogs like nothing. It's funny she has no fear of dogs or other people.

| Thanx guys. I will try to make it to those classes. So far it looks like Remi either starts barking or runs away from other dogs. I dont let him near big dogs, but even with small dogs he is a little nervous. Most of the time other dogs are just running around and having fun, and Remi is chasing them trying to figure out whats going on. I wish he had more fun. |

| maybe you can make a 1 on 1 playdate with a yorkie the same size. just to see if it's a lack of socialization. a puppy class may overwhelm her. |
