| PetSmart BUTCHERED my baby So I took my baby in for a bath and a trim today at PetSmart. An hour after he was dropped off I get a phone call saying that his arms are matted and that they need to SHAVE HIM. I told them no way and that i know his arms are not matted and don't even think about shaving him. We agreed that they could take off a little bit more hair than I originally intended. I picked him up a little while later and he is shaved down so far that you can see the pink of his skin!!!!! It's horrible. He looks like a caricature with his big head and little body. And I know this sounds weird but I think the lack of hair is hurting his confidence. And he keeps biting and scratching himself, which he has NEVER done before. We went back a few hours later and demanded our money back. They quickly gave it to us, but we're never going back. We went online and googled PetSmart grooming and there were several people who have had this same experience b/c the groomers there are too busy and don't have the time/patience to properly comb out our pretty babies long hair. Now my baby is bald and I am sick to my stomach and absolutely devastated. Has this happened to anyone else??

| Sorry about your experience. I have never been to Petsmart for grooming and never would. There is a whole thread in the grooming section devoted to Petsmart grooming. Here is the link http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45502

| sorry to hear about your experience. We also used petsmart, but quickly left them cause everytime we picked our baby up her hair wasnt trimmed the way we had asked. The lady there just did it as she saw fit, she said that everyone had their own style and didnt wanna listen to what we wanted. Also one day they had her for about 5 hours, when I went to pick her up the lady was on break and still hadnt finished with our little one. Needless to say I got my money back and thats the last time we set foot in Petsmart. Good luck in finding a new groomer. |

| Aww, I'm so sorry for you. I had a groomer shave Gracie down once and I nearly died. I know you're upset but just remember- it will grow back. Good for you getting your money back! If you look in the grooming section here there is a PetSmart thread where you will see you are not alone.

| I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way. Private groomers are so much safer, but of course they aren't fail-safe, either. I've had a good private groomer that has her own shop and no one else in it. His hair will grow out, but I know that is no consolation. Their hair grows maybe a half-inch a month, so he should have hair for winter. There have been a lot of threads started on here about that place. You can put some cute t-shirts on him in the meantime. You are probably right about his self-confidence. I've seen others that would go hide under a bed after they were sheared. I guess they were embarrassed. Good luck in the future.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | awwwww...he looks adorable - Put a little shirt on him so he doesn't feel so nekkid and I agree with who said at least he's ok. There's horror stories about groomers and some dogs have actually been cut or killed by the dryers by bad groomers (not necessairily at Petsmart) all he has is a bad haircut - and LOTS of us have been there.... If it will make you feel better ...here's Chanels BAD haircut picture for ya !! |

| I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, and I know I will NEVER take my baby to PetSmart for grooming after reading this, but try to look at the bright side. Your baby is fine, he's not injured or sick or anything and his hair will grow back. In the meantime, he will be nice and cool! |

| Oh Villette- I never saw that picture! Here's my bad grooming picture and keep in mind she started with a full coat I asked for a 3 in. all over puppy cut.

| Hi all, Just want to give a different spin on this and share my experience. I think not all of the groomers at petsmart are bad. (don't hit me!) When I got my first furbaby (Bichon) I took him there and was lucky to get a girl named Vanessa, who did a real good job. Next time I went in she was not there and I had to have him cut so I just let this other girl do him. OUCH!! He looked like a poodle(no offense poodle lovers)(at the time I thought he should look like a Bichon, first dog, no idea that he probable didn't care! now he just gets short cuts and I love him matter what!) and shaved where he should not have been. Well, I always requested Vanessa after that, and she took on my next Bichon and Maltese as well. Always had happy dogs after they came home. She got her start at Petsmart and about 3 years after starting with her, she opened her own grooming salon and I have been bringing my babies to her ever since (1994) She was excited to do AprilLove for the first time, as she has a 13 year old Yorkie (named guess.... Shampoo!!!) Since AprilLove is so squirmy, I think she did real well on the cut. So, although I agree in general that private shops are probably better, everyone gets their start somewhere. And I guess, a good way to find a groomer is to get recommendations via word of mouth. MaryKay AprilLoves Mommy |

| Aw I think shaved yorkies are cute But they shouldve done what you asked. You should also call corporate to complain, they might send you coupons that you can use in the store. |
