| I'm sorry I wish I did. I am sure there are some YTers out there who know a lot more than I do. I just remember reading that a carrier should have a firm stable base with enough room for them to stand up, lay down & turn around in. I believe that the caution was about carrying them for too long in the upright position. I don't think it said not to use them at all. Sorry for muddying the waters. I really know nothing-just read this on the internet . Donna |

| If your yorkie has gotte too big for his basket on your bike..look at eBay for the basket that is larger and one even fits on the back. They have straps so the pups can't jump out. They really look nice.

| Hi, I'm new to the forum and am the mama to two little girl Yorkies, Precious and Tilly. I felt the need to respond to the thread about the front, legs-out yorkie carrier. My veterinarian told me to not carry my older Yorkie - she's 12 - in one of those carriers. As Yorkies age, they are prone to degenerative discs in their backs because of all the jumping up and down on furniture. These carriers compress our babies' vertebrae, which is just awful for their backs - especially in older doggies. Precious has just started having back problems, and we were instructed by the doctor to train her to let up pick her up and put her down from the furniture. She's milking that because she always gets lots of kisses on the way up and down. Anyway, if the spine is compressed a disc can easily rupture, and that's bad news pain-wise and ability-wise. My younger Yorkie is 6, but I am not putting her in this type of carrier anymore, either. It's cute, but could cause or agitate back problems. Just a little advice I wanted to pass along. Thanks - |
