Default Front Legs Out Yorkie Carrier

Hi, I'm new to the forum and am the mama to two little girl Yorkies, Precious and Tilly. I felt the need to respond to the thread about the front, legs-out yorkie carrier. My veterinarian told me to not carry my older Yorkie - she's 12 - in one of those carriers. As Yorkies age, they are prone to degenerative discs in their backs because of all the jumping up and down on furniture. These carriers compress our babies' vertebrae, which is just awful for their backs - especially in older doggies. Precious has just started having back problems, and we were instructed by the doctor to train her to let up pick her up and put her down from the furniture. She's milking that because she always gets lots of kisses on the way up and down. Anyway, if the spine is compressed a disc can easily rupture, and that's bad news pain-wise and ability-wise. My younger Yorkie is 6, but I am not putting her in this type of carrier anymore, either. It's cute, but could cause or agitate back problems. Just a little advice I wanted to pass along.
Thanks -
