| Microchip Problem - Suggestions Please Sissy got microchipped today by a local animal shelter. Less than 6 hours after it was done, I was petting her and the chip worked it's way out of the injection site!! Is there something special that should be done following the insertion of the chip so that it doesn't work it's way out of her, or is this indicative that it wasn't inserted correctly or deep enough? I'll be calling the animal control officer tomorrow to let her know and hopefully she will do it again at no charge. Anyone have this experience before??

| I'm just guessing here, but I'm wondering if it was implanted deep enough. Hard to say. Connective tissue is supposed to form around the microchip after the injection, but it hasn't been long enough for that to take place apparently. I'd just call them back and ask them to do it again...at no charge!

| I agree, the chip wasn't implanted deep enough. I would ask them to redo it for free.

| Does Sissy need any surgery? The reason I ask is that I would ask for a refund and then have the vet implant the chip when she is under for her other surgery. It is a little painful and I cannot believe they did not inject it correctly. Poor Sissy...

I've left a message for the animal control office and hopefully we can get this done right and I won't have to worry about it again. Thanks everyone for your comments.

I never experienced this with either of my two. When Wyatt had his a few months ago the vet did use super glue to glue the site together.

| When Lanny was microchipped the chip travelled -- it ended up down his front leg. He was chipped by a vet -- anyway the vet said that he would have to be put under to have it removed and replanted so we are leaving it where it is for now -- the vet said that sometimes the barb on the chip doesn't catch as it should and that is why it sometimes travels. |
