Thankfully, Sissy does not require any surgery. Plus, the vet doesn't do microchipping which is why I went to the shelter to have it done. It didn't appear to hurt her much, she yelped just once and very quickly. She has actually screamed when the vet has tried to draw blood, and when she gets her nails clipped (but that is just because she's mad - not hurt).
I've left a message for the animal control office and hopefully we can get this done right and I won't have to worry about it again.
