| Brushing your yorkie How do you all get your yorkies to stand still for their brushing? My yorkie hates it when I comb through his hair! He tries to bite the comb that I use or even my hands. I don't want his hair to get matted so is there any advice out there? My old dog, a shetland sheepdog, loved it when I brushed through his fur. Sigh, my yorkie wont even let me tie his hair up. Haha, thanks in advance for the help! peggy |

| I made myself a grooming arm. When they are on the counter with the loop around their necks they stand for it. But if I try to brush them otherwise they fight and bite at the brush. |

| After I give Rocky a bath and while he's done trying to try himself off, I hold him in my lap (he's standing though) and he lets me brush him. It's really wierd cuz usually he wont stand still, but I think he knows he has too or something. |

| I personally have not had that problem. I started brushing mine the day I got them home and then every morning since. It may have taken 2-3 days, but now they are all so use to it that it's no problem. They even know what order I do them. My problem is trimming the nail on Joey and Izzie, so we're off to the Vet tomorrow to let them do it. GIdget and Emilee let me do anything to them. Good girls!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I wait until Cali is tired and I get out her comb and Ice on Ice spray and lay her on her back and start gentley combing her tummy and legs and in between I give her tummy rubs. Then I roll her over and domb her back. She is pretty good about it but does not like me to comb her neck where she tends to get matted. Then I redo her bow.

| I do not have that problem either. I also brushed mine from day 1 and now they just sit there and let me brush them. Sometimes they fight because they want to get brushed first...lol I'm not sure if this will work for you but it did for me. When I first got them they would not let me brush them so I started to praise them as I was brushing them and giving them small amounts of treats. They finally stopped trying to bite the brush and stood still for me. I don't even need to give them anymore treats while brushing...they wait until they are done and run to the kitchen because they know they will get one. They even got used to getting their teeth brushed. It's so funny how they sit there and let me brush their teeth...lol Now they let me cut their nails and trim their hair if needed. It takes time...just be consistant and try to do it everyday. |

| It's like anything else you do with them. You do it from the time you bring them home and they eventually get used to it and like it!
