| benadryl question would it hurt to give Kizzy maybe an eighth of a teaspoon of liguid benadryl just to make her relaxed enough to cut her nails? I dont know if it could hurt her or not or even if that much would make her kinda drowsy or too drowsy. I dont know much about medicines as I've never took much myself. Has anyone ever given their puppy benadryl. She weighs little over 6 lbs. I am not scared to cut them as I did it before and I have the bottles of quik stop right by me when I cut them just in case, but I only cut off the pointed tips. I would be scared to cut anymore than that. Its been at least 3 weeks since they were cut.

| Benedry won't hurt our furry friends. Recommended dose, according to my vet would be 1mg per pound of dog. So if your little one weighs 6 lbs, you'd give 6 mg. Look at the bottle. Somewhere on it there should be a dosage indicating how many mg/ml. On my bottle of children's benedryl it says 12.5mg in each teaspoon (which is 5 ml). If you do your math, a half a teaspoon should be just the right dose for your little one. When I have to give it to my babies, I use an infant oral syringe so I give the right dose and I've made sure it goes down. They're prone to spitting it out.

| i've given tucker children's benadryl before. i read on here somewhere that it would calm him down and maybe help with carsickness. the first time it helped. he went right to sleep. but the second time, he got really wound up! (as if yorkies aren't wound up already!) anyway, i'd say keep that in mind. i react to benadryl like that sometimes and other times it knocks me out... who knows? |

| well I gave it to her an hour and a half ago. She does sleep but when I touch her she just wakes right up and still wont let me touch her nails. lol I didnt give her quiet a half teaspoon, maybe she need the whole bottle. Just kidding. I'll just take her and have it done I guess. scared to give her anymore, but believe me it hasnt put her into a sleep enough that she dont know whats going on. If I touch her she wakes up. Not as awake as normal for her but awake enough to know whats up. ROFL. I've had it with trying today now. It didnt make her hyper either tho. just relaxed enough to sleep. or she just went to sleep on her own. who knows. I am still laughing at myself and her. She isnt dumb. its like everytime I try to touch her paw and her asleep she jumps up. rofl
