| Call the police and get a police report, and then call animal control if the police don't. If the big dogs can jump the fence, they are not properly restrained; and today they may attack a little Yorkie, but what about tomorrow? You? A neighborhood child bicycling down the street? An elderly person? Those dogs have to be properly restrained. If there is a "bewre of dog" sign out front, that owner knows his dogs attack. He should be taking better precautions. Don't feel bad about alienating your neighbors over this. I look at it this way--if they don't like me, they won't run over and try to borrow my tools, lawn mower, etc. LOL |

I'm afraid just as much as you are. At 6, a Pitt Bull; dragged me by my foot. Now if i'm even 3 feet away from one I have panic attacks. I hate big dogs. | |

Unfortunately....one of the problems with "Keeping Peace at all Cost"....usually ends up with escalating future problems regarding the dogs. If the owners of these animals do not learn that there are repercussions to the lack of responsibility....it will continue. It is apparent that these neighbors do not view their animals as potentially dangerous...only as loving pets. In their own words, "they are only playing". To have a "neighborly" chat to convince them that their dogs are a danger to both children and animals would be, IMHO, futile. Dogs that "play"....do not bite to the point of puncturing flesh. That is aggression...pure and simple. Please correct me if I am misinformed, but it is my assumption that these neighbors have been made aware of the puncture wound to her Yorkie. The "Right" thing to do would be to offer to pay for the vet costs and to take steps to secure their animals. This is not a matter of being "neighborly". These people have a moral and legal responsibility.... The bottom line is....these dogs DO present a threat to both children and animals..and I feel it would be negiligent to take a passive stand on something that could very well cost an animals or a child's life.
