| Yorkie Behavior Question! I was wondering if anyone else had a Yorkie that CONSTANTLY scratches you in the face? lol. Corky will sit on my chest and flat out claw me across the face if I'm not paying attention to him for 2.5 seconds. lol. Grabbing his paw and saying "NO paw Corky" hasn't worked at all. He'll look at me real weird, and paw at me again. lol. Sometimes it can be cute..but when he does this for hours at a time..it takes its toll on people. lol. Any other tips?? |

| It is possible that your little puppy is trying to assert his dominance over you by pawing at your face. As a general rule, you should not allow your dog to "stand" on your face because this may imply that he is in charge. When ever he does this, say "no" and put him down. If he keeps jumping up and down trying to get back in your lap. try saying something like "settle" in a low and very dragged out tone. Once he is calm pick him up again. Don't keep him in your lap if he keeps scratching your face. You could also scream "ouch" when he does this. It seems to work for biting, it may work for the scratching as well. I hope everything works out! |

| I'll have to try that. I'm such a softy when it comes to him so I don't like to scold him. lol. Hes not much trouble except for this. He does it to EVERYONE. It'd be cute if it was just when he wanted to play but its all the time lol. Thanks for the suggestions! |

| My Gracie likes to claw at anything especially when I am laying on the couch she will put her front paws on my arms and scratch really fast. I think it has to do with attention. It is always just me and Gracie and when i am with her she gets all my attention and when I lay down or simple sit on the couch do to something other than play with her she will continuously or do her scratching. I would say it has to do with attention. Gracie will even sometimes jump up onto my when I am laying down and scratch me I usually just say No loudly and she gets down.

| Thats funny because Gracie will sit on my lap when the windows are opened and look at the cars go by until I close the windows she will not move from my lap unless I get up then she follows me around and barks.

| Exactly. It must be an attention thing then. lol. He's VERY high maintenance thats for sure. lol. He definetly loves attention like no other. If you walk by him and not say anything to him he'll cry until you do lol. I took him to a track meet tonight and he didn't understand why the runners wouldn't stop and pet him while they were running the meet lol. |
