| How accurate are those growth charts? Just wondering - for those of you familiar with the growth charts - how accuarte, in your experience, are they? Do they tend to underestimate, overestimate, or are they pretty on target? Thanks, Anna |

| A lot depends on genetics as well as the parents. My Roxie is approx 6.5/7 lbs lbs yet her mom is 6lbs and her father is 4lbs. Her sister is only 3lbs. Like a box of chocolate- you never know what you are going to get. When I used the growth chart for Roxie, she should have top out at 5lbs. But I love her so and don't care what weight she turns out to be! I think the growth charts are just an estimate and you have to take into consideration genetics and parents when figuring out the weight.

| Not too acurate. A better way to figure is to double their weight at 12 weeks. There have been some surveys on here about it, and the charts are about 50/50 |

| I think a general rule of thumb we discovered was to add about a lb. to the final weight that the chart indicates. But of course, there were people with dogs much bigger and much smaller!! So far my puppy has not followed the chart at ALL, so it will be interesting to me to see how close her final weight ends up being compared to to the original prediction based on her birth weight!

| Pixie has followed the chart exactly so far... It figured she'd be somewhere between 3-4 lbs. At one year old she's 3.5 lbs. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | With my dogs, the chart was just a guesstimate. Nothing is written in stone, however, since genetics play a big role. Gracie and Rebel did not grow to be the size the chart says. Gracie's 8 week weight was 2 lbs, 3 ounces. By the 8 week rule (which is tripled), she should have been over 6 1/2 lbs. She topped out at 5 1/2 lbs.

| In my experience the puppy growth chart estimates are too low. Do a Yorkie Talk search on growth chart and you will find several discussions where people tell what their pets weighed as puppies and what they matured to. |

| Lacy please ...I have repeated this more often than not the chart works well for my breeding and I have never guaranteed that it works for others ...I repeat it's merely a gauge and genetics play an important role... PS I wonder if its so inaccurate why do people continue to steal it and put it up on their website???

| So far the chart has been on target for me. Tori, Cassie, & Meggie, I judged their weight by the chart and it's right on for them. I have 3 new puppies that are developing along the weight chart gauge. It will be fun to see if it holds true for them.
