| How does your dog compare to the standard? Here's a good link that shows the proper standards in physical appearance with pictures. It's very easy to see the differences on this site. http://dandugmore.netfirms.com/spiceseminar.html |

| Interesting link, thanks for sharing. It's still kind of hard to tell though. The obvious things like muzzle, ears, color, back and tail are correct on Coco but I've never noticed her stance. I will have to pay attention to that, otherwise she is perfect on the standard scale

| That's a great site! I really think that Tatum is very, very close to be being in the "perfectly standard" area. She's right at 5 lbs, correct length and height but I would have to examine her ears a little more to be sure on that part. Now that she's about 2.5 years old, her coloring may have a little more silver in it than the actual blue/black but I kind of expected that since her mom was very silver (dad was very black). It really never ceases to amaze me just how close she is to "perfect" since I had no serious knowledge of Yorkies when I bought her. I knew a lot about toy breeds (health issues and such) because of the toy poodle I had but nothing on how to go about picking out a Yorkie. We got really lucky with her. I couldn't love her any less if she's wasn't the way she is but her personality fits our family to a tee also..... loving, laid back, hardly any barking..... perfect for us!

| My Jewels is perfect in every way except her coat is a little too light. It is like a light blue color not the steel blue.

| Well now i am wondering if Kizzy is even a yorkie. LOL. just kidding but she dont fit anything yet in these pictures. But shes almost perfect to us. her tail is down, seems her back legs look a bit longer than front, (could be the way she is standing) her ears are too big and now I look back at it, her damn bow I stuck in her hair looks too big. LOL. Its ok shes one smart lil cookie.

But she doesnt really look as big in person as in her pics for some reason.

| According to that link half of us shouldn't even have the Yorkies we have. I always here a LOT say that if your dog isn't standard then you should NOT be breeding. If that was true then most of us wouldn't be able to even look at a yorkie. If they were all bred to that standard then they would all be show dogs. That would also keep the price very high too.I may get shot for this.... BUT.. Who cares if they have a flaw (I am talking a cosmetic flaw not health) doesn't mean the babies won't be loved. Ok i am ducking now...Diesel's one flaw is the fact that his back isn't perfectly straight. When he is on gaurd so to speak it is perfectly straight. So not sure if that is a roach back or not but...I could care less. Michelle Michelle. |

| I am not sure about Lola being up to these strict standards. She is too small, has long legs, and her snout appears to be too short. However, people tell me all the time that she is the cutest dog they have ever seen and I agree. Not biased here at all.

| Hi Thanks for posting the standard it was really nice to see the comparisons....Now I know that Vivi is too small, ears too big, nose to short, tail set is off....but I still think she's a star....that's why I'm her Mom She also came in second place as cutest puppy in a citywide family dog show last year....she lost to a six week old golden retriever and when she came in second you could hear the audience sigh... many said she won in their book....GR puppies are tough competition having had two before...they are like teddy bears. I think yorkies of all sizes and shapes are the best
