YT 5000 Club Member | ? for those who have taken... their furbabies on vacation with them. What all do I need with me in the vehicle at all times! We are going to Bull Shoals, AR the week after next and I am sooo excited! We are taking Chloe with us and Gidget is staying at my fiance's sister's house! Gidget has been with us before and she is just sooo hyperactive and Chloe is totally the opposite! If you let Gidget off of her harness, she takes off. Chloe will walk beside you where ever you go! Anyways, just wanted some input as on what all to take with us!!! Oh and is ok to take them on the beach?! Thanks for any info!!!

| Water! a bowl, wet wipes, treats, small safety scissors (for picked up stickers etc.) the rabies vaccination tag, a picture and a blanket. We always have our transportable play pen with us so Mitzi feels 'at home' in the hotel room. It's also much better if you have to leave your baby alone for a short time. This way you can be sure there will be no accidents on the carpet and nothing bad can happen if somebody comes into the room. Of course we always hang out the 'Do not disturb' sign, but you never know. As for the beach: at some beaches dogs are allowed, at some not. Mostly there are signs up so you'll know. Mitzi loooooooves the beach and chasing all the birds! Have a great fun vacation! |

| Oh Wow, going on vacation. Hope you have a wonderful restful time! When I take our furkids --three Yorkies and Boo the Boxer, I take everything they own -- they have more stuff than I do Be sure to take enough water with you that they are used to drinking. Sometimes strange water can cause stomache upsets, Wet wipes A towel Plastic bags for "accidents" Paper towels Spray air freshener Treats Harness and leash (I always keep harnesses on the kids when we are traveling) Health Papers (be sure you know exactly where they are at all times--you can be required to show them) Nutrical (you never know and it pays to be safe) Something for fleas and mosquitoes This is a "short list" just off the top of my head. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Sounds like you have already gotten some great advice....we also take the girls' sleeping blankets. It makes bedtime easier because they are use to the smells and don't get too anxious being in a new place!!

| Make sure you have a way for them to drink water in the car The easiest way is to get one of those things that sometimes newborn puppies drink from, or rabbits... they have special ones for dogs just teach them how to drink from it before you go Because we just have Tila, we've always had a cup of water in the car and she drinks from that but it gets her mouth ALL WET You want to keep her microchip information on you (if she has one) because if she goes missing... (she probably wont) you want that information and I also suggest always keeping a harness on them in a car and a leash handy (i keep a leash in my back pocket no matter where I am with Tila) I suggest she always wears her tags on her collar I'd take a crate, for her to stay in when you aren't in the hotel room (a lot of hotels people go in the rooms regardless of the signs) Just to be saaafe! Also who's gonna be in the car ride just 2 people? it might be easier for one to sit in the backseat with her, take some toys for her, and a blanket that she likes (if she's into that) that's all kind of given but if you're going to be in the car for a LONG time she'll be more comfortable in the back seat! anyways this is a lot of stuff so I'm gonna shut up now ha ha |
