| ![]() ummm from the books that I have read, it says specifically that a silky terrier's hair "will never reach the ground".. I guess there are always some exceptions... |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | ![]() The fine, silky, shiny hair has no undercoat. It is very prone to tangles and mats unless frequently groomed. The coat should not reach the floor. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/silkyterrier.htm |

| ![]() I have both a Yorkie and a Silky. They are both fabulous! It is harder to find Silkys. Ibet it is just a big Yorkie

But plenty of purebreds deviate from the standard. Granted that's not the goal, but if they all met the standards perfectly, they'd all be show dogs...the standard also says a yorkie weighs a certain amount, but we all know plenty of yorkies who don't meet that standard. Breeders, anyone have a pup born with anything but black toenails?

| ![]() [QUOTE=Catrina]A yorkie's toenails are ALWAYS black..so if it is another color then its not a yorkie.. or at least a pure yorkie[/QUOTEi know my yorkies tye and zac are full blood yorkies as i bred them and some of zacs toe nails are white so thats not true its the same as some yorkies have good coats and some dont some are big some are small some have long bodies some dont some have floppy ears some dont, its just that they have to have black nails to show them its about breed standard.

| ![]() I prefer to breed Yorkies as close as possible to the standard . What is wrong with the idea of having a beautiful dog as companion ? |

| ![]() So can anyone tell me anything about my Yorkie by looking at his pic's? Is he silky or cottony? Does he look like he is full Yorkie? These pic's were taken in the last 2 days and he is 7 months old. He weighs 10 or 11lbs and he has not had a haircut yet. |
