| How did you start going for walk with your pup!? Haruka loves to run!!! but when that is only when she is in the mood. She runs so fast that it is crazy. If you have her without leash in the house.. next thing.. you have to look for her. She is so fast. But then.. she is or maybe I am having hard time with her walking together. Maybe she is just so young and small... but I cannot wait for her to walk with me soon. I don't want to drag her... I know she loves to walk... So I just wanted to know how you guys started walking with your pups when they were small

| Haruka is so cute When I first got Frodo, he was really scared to go outside. So I would carry him out and put him on the sidewalk, and the first couple of times, he just sat there and whined. He didn't know what to do and was probably really confused why we were out there. So then I would walk a few steps and turn around and wait for him. He didn't want to be alone, so he would kind of follow me hesitantly. Then I would take a few more, and again, he would follow. And now??? He's a pro walker and can't wait to get outside! Hope this helps

| I know I tried a collar and a leash at first and they would just sit there and not move. Once I placed them in a step-in harness they walked along perfectly. |

| Since I got Sissy in November and I don't particularly like cold weather, I didn't start walking her till it warmed up in April when she was 8 months old. She did great right from the beginning. I still need to have patience though, cause there are times when she just wants to keep stopping to sniff everything and explore. If I don't let her every now and then, she'll sit her little butt right down and refuse to move!!

| It's sometimes good to get them used to the harness and leash (wearing it around the house for 10 min or so a few times a day) before taking her outside for her first walk. Oscar was a nervous wreck the first time I put his gear on and took him out - he wouldnt even move, he was so freaked out by the leash! Now he's a pro and he LOVES his walks!

| It is best to let them get used to the equipment. Start by putting the harness on for a few minutes, and when she is comfortable wearing the harness, attach the leash and let her drag it around the house. When she is comfortable with the leash and harness then attach YOURSELF to the other end of the leash and just walk with her. It is a gradual thing and before you know it, you two will be going for pleasant peaceful walks together/ . |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | With Cali, I had Maya with us and my dtr. She would walk backwards in front of CAli and call her to come as we were walking. Do you want me to send Jessica to Boston for awhile!! Cali did much better as she got older.

| Walking IMPORTANT!!!: NEVER WALK YOUR YORKIE ON A COLLAR!!! ALWAYS WALK HIM/HER ON A HARNESS!!! Since yorkie necks are so fragile, if they are being walked on the collar, they can see a squirrel/whatever, and they go after it, and your dog may "kick the canine bucket." Thats how my aunt lost Mick Jagger Jr. (RIP Mick Jagger Jr.) The harness is the best way to go, however, you can have a collar with the tags on at the same time, just attach the leash to the harness. Okay, besides that... 1) Have Haruka walk around the house with the leash on for about a week or two, to get the feel of it on her. (You don't have to hold the leash, just let her run around with it.) 2) Begin walking Haruka, and when you feel her begin to pull one way, just walk the direct opposite way. This gives her a feel of who is boss. If she runs, then stop where you are, and she should run the leash taught. Wait for her to come to you, and walk the opposite way. If she is being stubborn, and just keeps trying to pull you, stay there until she gets the message, and walks your way. 3) When you have her leash trained, and if she is walking ahead of you: Stop. call her name and say "no." she should come to your side and start walking agian. Keep doing this until she gets the hang of walking beside you. *ALWAYS PRAISE HER WHEN SHE IS WALKING NEXT TO YOU!!! I hope this is useful, thats how i got my Tugger walking right |
