It is best to let them get used to the equipment. Start by putting the harness on for a few minutes, and when she is comfortable wearing the harness, attach the leash and let her drag it around the house. When she is comfortable with the leash and harness then attach YOURSELF to the other end of the leash and just walk with her. It is a gradual thing and before you know it, you two will be going for pleasant peaceful walks together/ .
