What I wouldn't give to have hair like all these blonde beauties. They are all incredible!!

hi.... years back i did some research on this and discovered that my female carried a gene, that cause the skin pigmentation to be red/blonde instead of the blue scalp that yorkies have. it is just a blessing from nature...sorta like an albino.this can be carried for several generations down...my female has been blessed with a solid blonde[exotic gold] pup in each of her past five litters...they are beautiful to look at..i kept the last one,and retired the mommy. daddy is black/tan mommy is cream and silver and little dauughter is strawberry blonde..ill soon post a pic or two of them...in the area i live in....people raise their eyebrows in disbelief when i tell them shes a true yorkie. the vet called her a throw- back....shes our bundle of joy........tb

your dog is absolutely beautiful.i have a female,who is about 5 months old. i hope she ends up looking like your little princess..right now she is strawberry blonde.

Can you post a picture too? I enjoyed looking at these beautiful blonde (I like the term you used -- exotic gold) Yorkies! I love the chocolate color too. But this all gold is really gorgeous! I love the gold on Ben. He is especially gold under his chin. I would love if one of his pups were to come out all that color. Isn't it neat how we study all of the breeding, thinking we are going for the best of blue and gold, and then along comes nature to throw in a beautiful tangent on us!

This is very interesting. When we got Uni, I must admit it was to breed her (WE ARE NOT GOING TO NOW) and the day after we got her, we looked at boy yorkies. We went to one family that said "we are not doing it for the money, we do it for the love of the breed". Good thing we didn't get one from them. The parents were on site, but they were over 10 lbs, the mom was all gold, the 10 week old pups were already 3 lbs (there were SEVEN of them!). They weren't puppy mill breeders by any means, but they're def were not in it for "the love of the breed". That being said... yorkies can carry the all blonde gene, but that is not standard yorkie, and that gene should not be passed on.

Since the one post said one dam produced a golden Yorkie in each of several litters, you must be right. So, it is not one of those anomallies like albinoism where perfectly normal blue & gold yorkies produce one. It would be that one was a carrier. And then they should not continue to breed. Who knows though, they may start another movement and get a new breed like they did with the Biewers.

i read somewhere on the internet about blond yorkies .if i can find the site again i will put it on. it told what the reason was but for the life of me i cant remember. she s beautiful i know that!

I have one here that is all but blond at 6.
It is to do with hormones. Early on set or not normal colour change.

I've been playing with the idea of getting another yorkie (female this time) and I have seen dogs like yours (: I think they are beautiful and might try to get a female that has those colors.

Anomaly, or imperfect genes, whatever. The blonde yorkies pictures we've seen are GOURGEOUS! I wouldn't mind having one too. I understand that this is not "standard" but having said that. New breeds or variations do get acknowledged, and if people like them(and they are so beautiful) who's to say that they might not have a future. You can't love them any less than the standard ones.

It's their genes. But I know one that started off as a puppy who was normal black and tan, and now 2 years old is a blondie. I don't understand why it comes out like that. But then again I've seen ones born blonde. Either way they are gorgeous!
