| How long should a Yorkie be? We were at the drive-in last night and this lady comes up to see Diesel. She says he is pretty has a really nice coat and the makes the comment that his is long. Well he isn't a show dog he is my baby and I really could care less but how long should he be? She says she raises them and has about 7. I told her that we had thought about breeding him but that I really didn't think we would go down that road. She said the same thing I did. As long as he isn't marking the house and is housebroken he should be fine.Of course Diesel went over and sniffed and checked them all out. LOL Then we just kinda chit chatted a little about the Yorkies. I have always seen the standard weight posted but what about the length and the height? Michelle |

| Hi The American Breed Standard doesn't mention height and length of back. It does say: Quote:

| I will have to agree with you on that one ! lol After she walked away I was wondering how small her Yorkies are. Diesel is only 4.5 pounds and is actually quite small. So for her to say he was long then that led me to believe she was breeding really small Yorkies. Oh well I could careless how long he is. He will just be a long small SPOILED Yorkie. LOL Michelle |

| Too bad she felt she had to critique Diesel....They probably should be as long from base of neck to base of Tail as they are tall from floor to top of shoulder WITH a level topline. BUT, we love our babies for what they are----imperfect little critters that light up our lives... |

| Well he is a little longer than he is tall. About an inch or an inch and a half longer than he is tall. Now another question. Should the breeder that I got diesel from NOT have bred his mom and dad since the height and weight was off? That being said I have no intentions of breeding Diesel. Actually he is quite happy with his stuffed animal. LOL It is a little bigger than he is and it seems to be working out quite well between the two. LOL We expect to have stuffed bear/ yorkie pups any day now !!!! Michelle |

| Max is longer than he is tall, too...didn't really notice it until this weekend (he's been at the doggy hospital, lost over a pound...so I was inspecting him when he got home! LOL) but he's still perfect to me! No breeding plans...he's already been neutered...and he looooooves his slipper (actually, MY slipper) but it's Hello Kitty, so maybe he likes her? LOL I've had people comment negatively about Max before, too, especially his coat...seems I can't please anyone, since it's either too long for some or too short for others. I think only Max & I need to worry about that stuff.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | They're suppose to be square...as long as they are tall. But I'm with everyone else...who cares! We love them just the same!
