a curly haired yorkie?? for some reason my puppy has kinda wavey hair. i know he's a pure bred yorkie so i dont get it. and when i was at my work yesterday, some obnoxious girl said oh he's not pure breed, yorkie's have straight hair. does anyone else have a yorkie that has wavey or curly hair? |
I have some AWESOME pictures! I was able to spend time with Oscar's Mom and little Oscar this weekend. Oscar is a GORGEOUS and SOFT curly haired 2 year old Yorkie purebred, too, and as soon as I get home, I will post some wonderful pictures of him for you! It is amazing to me how very different each individual yorkie is!! Enjoy yours!:p |
thank you so much, it would be nice to see another yorkie with curly hair so i can know how soma looks is normal. when that girl said that he wasnt pure bred it kinda hurt my feelings, i know she was wrong and didnt really know what she was talking about but it still hurt to her that. |
Why can't people just mind their own damn business. Like what on earth did she accomplish telling you something like that. I would have told her yeah right you are the yorkie expert in these parts. God people need to keep their mouths shut when it doesn't concern them..she is just jealous. They need to live by the old addage "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all". |

I have seen tons of yorkies with coats like that. Remember the coat does change as they get older in color and possibly texture. |

Bailey's hair was very curly up until a month ago, it is straighter now and changing color, he is 6 months....I have people that think they know a lot more then they really do say things like that too, as well as the funniest one for me yet..."Thats no Yorkie!!!.....Thats a Rottewieler!!!....LOL |
i dont mind if his hair stays curly but it will be easier to take care of if its straight. i was thinking of cutting his hair too, for summer, if i do get it cut though its gonna be a mohawk, in memory of my lab mix meg who died a few years ago, we always use to give her mohawks and she always looked so cute, i miss her a lot. |
It looks like the hair is curly from being humid, lol. He's cute though, and he looks purebread. Maybe she was mis-informed. I don't think theres a need to attack her unless she said it in a snobbish way towards you, then you have all rights to snap on her! |

My Sampson has very wavy hair. He is so cute. I also have Sophie who has straight hair....both 100% yorkies.....It doesn't matter whether they are straight or wavy/curly they both get groomed daily (I really enjoy it and so do they).......our pups look like they might have the wavy hair... |
My grandmother's yorkie has curly hair. I think it is so adorable! It matches her personality perfectly! I personally am glad that all yorkies don't look exactly alike! My family has a total of 6 yorkies...all of them look completely different and all of them have different personalities. I love it! |

Sadie has always had curly hair. She's obviously no Yorkie expert and does not have a clue what she's talking about. My guess is the only time she's ever seen a Yorkie is in a show...and we all know that show dogs the coat is shown straight. But they could be dried that way. Sadie's hair is straight for a little while if I blow dry it. |

Soma looks pure to me. His hair also looks like it straighten out as it gets longer and professional groomers seem to be able to get the coat starighter. He looks so cute straight or curly. |

My aunt's Yorkie has the "wooley curly" hair and he is pure Yorkie! Remember, this breed was created by a few different breeds to create a Yorkie and some of the ancestry will show up in some of these babies. Nothing wrong with that! They are wonderful no matter what size, shape, color with hair straight or curly! :D |
My Merlot has wavy hair on his butt, especially when he hasn't been brushed after his bath :D . People can be so dumb saying things about peoples fur kids without thinking. I get really annoyed when people ask me if Merlot is purebread or if they call him "the yorkie" instead of calling him by his name. People act as if pure bread or type of dog is what matters. Amazing how worked up we get about our pups, huh? :aimeeyork |
curly hair My Satch has curly hair adross his shoulders,it just started doing it in the last 6 weeks, he looks like a little lion:p He is getting groomed next Monday into a puppy cut so we will see what happens.He is soooo handsome curly or straight!!:hearts6: Satch is also one of the BIG Yorkies and I have been told that he can't be full blooded Yorkie,I try not to sound off to those that are so ignorant that they can't keep their mouths shut about something they know nothing about and try to just consider the source. Sometimes it isn't easy!! I guess we should carry our registration papers with us wherever we go,not !:aimeeyork |
