1 Attachment(s) Carmel has the cottony coat and has curly hair!! We just discovered he's a splitter, which is a parti carrier... |
I thought I was all alone! Our baby, Hunner, is twelve pounds and has a ton of curly hair. The hair makes him look huge! I will post a pic. I thought he may not be a yorkie because of his size and the curly hair. Thanks - new here- Brian in MN |

My Pixie has wavy hair but she has the cotton coat so that is why. We have to keep her shaved down because with a cotton coat they mat easily. |
Who cares what that human b**** said? My furbaby is an AKC registered Yorkshire Terrier named Little Brandy Madison and she has a soft curly coat. We are not snobby about it as we just call her Brandy and love her just the way she is! |
Sprocket is also a purebreed Yorkie but his hair is mostly straight except from his belly to his back legs area that is wavy...very unique just like him. |

Yorkies have many hair types, different variances of color, different lengths, etc. so I wouldn't worry about it. Life would be a drag is every Yorkie looked the same. Your baby is adorable, and I love the hair texture too. (: |
One of my boys has a curly coat that is solid gold named Baxter, and Duke is more of a traditional Yorkie. I have had people ask me what Baxter is, and one lady had the misfortune of calling him Dumbo because of his big ears! I explained to her that she needed to sent down and watch Dumbo so she could learn some manners. Both my boys are different, and as unique as people can be. I would not change either one of them! I just cannot help ignorant people. |
2 Attachment(s) Dolce also had very wavy/curly hair when I first got her at 4months. Now that she is almost 8 months old her hair seems to be straightening out. It gets even straighter when I bathe/blowdry her. Your puppy looks like its just the puppy coat still and it will change most likely as he gets older. Here is a pic of Dolce when i first got her and a pic of her just the other day. |
Bella has curley wavey hair and floppy ears to go with it all. |
I never really thought that Zeke had curly hair, but he looks a lot like the picture that is posted. Who cares if their hair is straight or curly. I just love their personalities. |
Yorkies rule, other dogs drool!!!! Yorkies are the best, no matter what their hair or ears look like. |

Curly-Qs I have two pure bred yorkies. They are curly haired as well. :) They are brother and sister from the same litter and yet they have different colorings as well. One is the traditional coloring, the other is a lot lighter in color. I love them both to pieces. |
Curly vs straight, which wins? I'm the proud mommy of two Yorkies,Chico, who is 4 1/2 lbs and Reggie who is (well, let's say he likes to eat) Reggie is a curly ball, looks like a stuffed toy,and precious, adorable and simply delicious! Chico is soft and silky, the most perfect Yorkie face ever,a real toy looking Yorkie, both are fierce protectors, and both are gorgeous! Not all Yorkies are created equal, just like humans. To me they are both "show dogs" |
Dog snobs make me so mad! |
My Yorkie girl has curly hair, which i love and floppy ears, which i also love...wouldn't change a thing about her :D |

No one has said anything to me...why would they?....My Teddi's dad is full bred Yorkie and her mum is half Yorkie and half Maltese...So i believe that makes Teddi three quarter Yorkie and one quarter Maltese....I dont care if she is full bred or not...I adore her and she is the best ever.....enjoy your gorgeous puppy ;) |
My baby girl looks so much like yours. I just cut her coat because it was so hard to keep tangle free. Her baby hair didn't look that curly to me I just thought it was tangled but her coat looked exactly like your babies after about 5 min. of combing her. I am not sure but I don't think her baby coat was that curly but her adult coat that is coming in is very wavy. When I cut her black hair off I found a light blue wavy coat under the black. But I think she is just adorable and so is your baby. Don't let anyone tell you any differently. Hannah's mom, your girl is so cute, I was wondering if you are able to grow her hair to the floor or does the curl make it impossible? Your girls color looks like what I think my baby will look like when she is full grown. Debbie |
2 Attachment(s) Yeah, there is a ton of variation among yorkies. Lexie is what I would call wavy. The 1st pic is of her when she was 6, right after a bath and not totally dry. She tends to be curly on her butt and legs. The 2nd pic was her at 10 years right after bath. Her hair seems less wavy than it used to be. Their coats will change over their lives in color, texture and shape. |

Hi, I love Lexie! She is just beautiful. What did she look like as a puppy? I have a little 6 month old girl and I started having terrible problems keeping her coat tangle free, so I cut off her black baby coat and underneath she is about the same color as your Lexie. Her new coat is shiny but is wavy so I was wondering about what it will look like when she is older. If she is as pretty as Lexie I will be so happy! |

You girl is still young and her coat will continue to change for at least another year, maybe longer. I'm sure she will be beautiful no matter what :) I didn't have Lexie as a puppy so I don't know what she looked like (I got her at 5). According to the breeder, she was a show dog. So she must have had the standard coloring. When she was 18 months she had an accident jumping off the show table and broke her leg in 3 places. After several casts, she was shaved down to match the shaved broken leg. When her coat grew out, it was platinum blonde with dark roots, so she couldn't be shown anymore (being off-color). I don't know if she was always curly though. |
