curly yorkie Hello everyone, this is my very first post, however, I have been reading and learning so much from all of you since March when I got my very first baby girl, Tesi she is now five and a half months and she too is a curly yorkie, I have to say I absolutely love the curly look and although she is still too young to know I hope she stays curly and if it happens to straighten then that will be okay too since I love the long straight look as well. I think all of our babies are gorgeous straight or curly big or small, some people have issues with the size also, my Tesi is now four pounds and if she were to weigh one hundred pounds I would love her just the same (the more to love) well I feel like I know you all just by reading your posts and I am so very happy to have found this site, I just wish I had some of you as neighbors so we could have play dates, I don't know of any yorkie families near us and it would be awesome for Tesi to have some friends. Evil_soma your baby does not even look like he has curly hair. He has a bit of a wave in it but I bet you that is his puppy coat. Being only 4 months old he does not have an adult coat yet. When he does get older I think his adult coat will be straight. Even if his hair turns out to be curly there are still some yorkies with curly hair and they are all purebred and look just as adorable.Your baby is gorgeous by the way. I probably would have responded "yea well I have been studying humans for a long time and you (place insult here). Thats just how I would have responded. This girl had no idea what she was talking about and did not even take in consideration that he was a puppy with his puppy coat. She probably has only seen show yorkies in the ring which are in full straight adult coats. People can be so ignorant. Oscar's mom how old is Oscar in the last picture?? Scampers looks just like Oscar in his 4 months old picture. Scampers is 5 months and he looks so much like Oscar's younger version, I wonder if Scamper will look like Oscar when he is older. |

buttercup is a little over 4 months and his hair is the same as your soma (sorry if i mispelled) i don't think that means that they're not purebred. people can be very rude and obnoxious |

Kramer had curly hair. 1 Attachment(s) My beautiful Kramer (may he rest in peace) had curly hair especially if I did not use the blow dryer on him. He was 8 1/2 years old here and his coat was very easy to keep untangled. |
Don't feel too bad. Someone told me my 14 pound yorkie was not "full-blooded" because he is too big. She should see him now, he had long straight hair almost to the floor and he looked so hot I decided to cut his hair short. Now his hair is curly and he is so cute. He is two years old and I don't know what happened, looks as if he got a perm. A delivery guy yesterday said he liked the "minature yorkies" better, they only weigh two pounds. I wonder where he gets his information. |

wavy or straight i have a 6mos yorkie boy..CODI and he has the most beautiful wavy hair ever but all the yorkies i've seen have straight silky hair... i guess my question is do you think he will keep his wavy hair (i pray) or will he have the silky hair that is expected? |
Curley hair may not be a part of the "standard," but I think it can be really pretty. Once at the vet's office I saw a Yorkie that had the prettiest hair. It had ringlets all around its body. The ringlets made me think of Nellie Olson's hair on Little House on the Prairie. It was very pretty. |
I agree he is perfect and I have seen tons of yorkies with coats just like that, and it will change as he gets older. |

I have two girl yorkies who have wavy hair, and one is almost 8 and the other is almost 3. its funny though cause the 3 yr old is a golden and only some of her hair is actually curly and some is straight. My male has a little wave to his hair but not much |
Mollys hair looked exactly the same when I got her at 4 months but now at almost 7 months her hair is getting much straighter. When I got her everyone was saying she's not a Yorkie because she has curly fluffy hair floppy ears and is dark, Iit made me question if she was even tho I had her pedigree, I posted a few pics on here and everyone said with out a doubt she is a full Yorkie. No two yorkies r the same just like people. Enjoy your adorable Yorkie :) |

Well my Suzi who is 3 yrs old, and her coat has grown out, a part of her hair on her back is wavy... It is the steel blue in color , just that it will not stay down. She has the silky feel to her coat, it is strange that the longer her hair gets the wavy spot on her back gets. It is only in that spot too. I know that when she gets her hair cut the wavey hair will be gone. I do agree that it is easier for those wavey , curley haired yorkie's to become more matted, then the straight long hair most commonly seen. |
So cute!! Someone on fb posted asking if I was sure my Aja is not a mix because she is too dark. . . . . . . . . . I will be darned if someone suggests shes not lol :) All yorkies vary so much. Thats whats great about this breed. |
1 Attachment(s) My Izzy has VERY curly hair....ringlets all over. I will attach a picture of her, but this picture shows her coat straighter than it actually is (I had just groomed/brushed her out). We get a ton of compliments from people about her beautiful coat. :) |

Curly Haried Yorkie Wonder what she would say about a black and white, blue-eyed yorkie? I bred the female as well as her parents and helped to birth Possum. So I know for a fact he is 100% pure. Plus I have his AKC papers. I raised yorkies with my Mother for over 20 years and I am still no expert. They continue to surprise me. Forget that snotty girl. "Studing" yorkies and owning them are 2 different things. |
My Kody is on the larger side and me and my husband always get comments of whether he is a Yorkie and if he's full bred. Because he is small, they assume he is not a Yorkie. |
