| Yorkie Not Eating Enough Hi. Is it ok to give my yorkie a variety of dog food instead of just one? The vet said he needs to eat more but it seems like he gets bored with his food and stops eating it. I tried to give him a new food and he ate it perfectly for a week and then stops again. I just went back to the old one, and he ate it all! So what do you think?? Can I go back and forth? PS they are different brands. Thanks |

| How old is he? You normally want to mix 1/2 of the old with 1/2 of the new and change over gradually because yorkies especially younger ones have sensitive tummys

| I had a bulldog like this. I had no idea what to do. Cause he would go with out eatting since he was bored with his food. I would change it and he would eat it til he got bored of that brand. Well finally I seen something that made more sense. I was watching an episode of Dog Whisperer, and it had a dog that also got bored of his dog food. They only thing the owner could get her dog to eat was the treats, which were very costly. Anyways, Cesear( the trainer) said that the dog needed exercise to get hungry. Who would have guessed that you HAVE to make the dog get hungry enough to eat anything. I have tried it more and more. I used to take him on casual walks but not at a faster pace. Who knows, try it and see if it helps.

| I did the "Tough Love" thing. Put the food down, if they don't eat it. Pick it back up. Wait about 30 minutes and try again. Or you can take my husband's approach and make a game of it. Put the bowl down and pretend YOU are eating it! Make crunching sounds if it's kibble or slurping sounds if it's moist. Look up lick your lips like a pup and when you go back for more they won't let you. Trust me, they ALWAYS want what others have!

| Another thing you can try is to mix some cottage cheese in with the food. My dogs always eat that

| I use 2 sorts of kibble in a double bowl.Sometimes she eats one, sometimes the other! They are both quality kibbles--Royal Canin Mini puppy and Nutro Small bites. No problems with upset tummies and she is full of energy. She is hungry after a good walk.
