| Boarding Questions??? I am going out of town this weekend and I am boarding my Sebastian for the first time. I am extremely nervous and hesitant. I have him booked for several different places and I plan to go and visit them all before I choose which one is best. I am a nervous wreck about this, but I have no other choice. (except not go!! ) He is only four months old and he sleeps with me EVERY night. I am just worried that he will get stressed out and start having issues with his stomach again. He is just now starting to get used to being in the kitchen all day while I am working. He used to shake out of control and cry like crazy before I leave. Does anyone have any words of comfort, advice, or stories that will help me ease my nerves? I would greatly appreciate it.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Goodness... Hon I am sorry that you have to have this stress. Is there no way that you can leave him with someone you know. Does your vet's office board. At least he will be somewhat familiar with him and you know they will care for him. I would suggest if you really have to that you leave him some of his favoriet things so that he has familiar things with him to ease some of the stress of being away. Is there maybe a local dog sitter that you can get instead that way he can stay at home in his home and just have them come in and check on him?

| I've never had to board mine. I would be worried at only 4 months though. If at all possible, try to get someone to come to your home. Does he already have his rabies and kennel cough vaccines? If a kennel is your only option bring his own food, bed, blanket, toys, and Nutrical and have them give it 2X a day. I'm sure he'll get a lot of attention at the kennel - Yorkies have a way of doing this. |

| Take something of yours too. Maybe a shirt or something with your scent on it. It will help ease him some. Also, some boarding places now have webcams so you can go online while you're gone & see how they are doing.

| Thanks for the tips everybody. He does have all of his shots. I have him set up at the vet that I use, the only thing is that they are closed until Tuesday!! I wanted to pick him up on Sunday. One of the members mentioned Nutrical. What exactly is that and how much does it cost? I guess my main concern is that he is sooo "busy" and he needs A LOT of looking after. His feelings get hurt easily. I don't want him hating me when I come to pick him up. Just a worried mommy..

| Nutrical is a nutritional suppliment with sugar in it you give you dog to prevent hypoglycemia. Unless your dog is extremely small or sickly I really dont think you need to worry about giving it to them to give to him.

| Nutrical of Nutristat (same thing). I think they like the taste of Nutristat better. It's under $10.00 for a tube and the reasoned I mentioned it is because it is good in times of stress when maybe he won't eat like he does at home. I still give it to mine since it has the omega fatty acids in it and they like it. I buy it at Petsmart. |

| If I couldn't take my babies with me, and there was no friend I could leave them with, I wouldn't go. I can't imagine any circumstance that I would be forced to make that tough decision. |
