I first tried the local yorkie rescue since I wanted a loving dog more so than an AKC registered champion, but there was nothing in my area available. So...If memory serves me correctly I ran into a member of the board of directors for the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America. She gave me a list of reputable breeders in my area and I settled on one who was very open with her home and breeding practices. She only had two boys at the time and both came from championship blood. I picked Jack due to his temperment and paid...(swallow) $3,500. He is worth EVER penny. I could care less but his pedegree is very impressive. He hasn't been evaluated (mostly because I don't care) but if he wasn't fixed I'm sure he would show well. The only problem I've had medically is a recent concern he had a collapsed trachea…it turned out to only be reverse sneezing. So he was $3,500 and worth a million in my heart!

We paid $600. for Cooper. She wanted 800. but I talked her down to 600. He is registered too.

This has been done several times and the price range is totally ridiculous with not rhyme or reason to it. Which just proves it pays to shop around.

Bargains can be found it you want to take the time to do the homework. We have also concluded that price made no difference in the quality.
Just wondering if price didn't seem to be related to quality, how or if it was related to size??

I have had 2 Yorkies first one was almost 20 yrs ago, very cheap but ears never stood up & weighed close to 10#. The one I have now cost ten times that much, ears are up & weighs a pound and a half at 13 weeks so shouldn't be too big.

Of course, there is a 20 year time difference and the first was a lady who was just letting her female have a litter. The second was a professional breeder. But the first was AKC and this one is APRI registered. By the way, what's the deal with that. She had a long story about how the parents (which I saw) were both AKC but she didn't like AKC & preferred APRI. Is it cheaper or what??

We paid $500.00 for Tiffanie & $450.00 for Theodore. Both with AKC papers.

oscar was free!!! i had to pay to have him shipped... he was from a breeder in lousiana... she only sells high end pups and oscar had a hernia and no on wanted him... she just wanted him to go away i think :( buuuut hes the love of my life! and hes healthier than ever now!

I live about 25 miles north of Moultrie but am not familar with any breeders there. How did you find her? Good luck with the new baby!

How do you put a price tag on a lil babydoll?
I think lil Kinzi was a premium @ 1,800, but she's worth every penny!!
I lost a Yorkie a couple years back that was 12 years old.
She was the most loving lil thing I'd ever had... :dogsm2:
Soooooo, in a puppy I wanted that short legged, lil bodied, baby doll faced...
w/ awesome markings & here she is!! :hearts-en

I live about 2 hea from Columbus. Half way between Tifton and Albany in a small town Sylvester. I grew up in Sylvester and I love it. Hate the humidity though. When are you moving?
