| reaction to rabie shots Why does my yorkie have a skin irritation after a rabie shotS?Two years in a row after a booster shot his hair falls out,and skin is irritated.Scratches and licks his paws a lot. |

| He could be allergic to it. My yorkie had an allergic reaction to one of her vaccines and almost died! He gums and tongue turned blue and she wouldn't answer me. Talk to your vet because now Josie gets a shot of Benadryl before her vaccines and they keep her there for an hour to watch for any side effects!

| I would talk to your vet about it... Sounds like he definitely had a reaction to the vaccine (which isn't uncommon). I'd see if they recommend something to ease the itching until the reaction subsides. I'm not sure how the law reads where you're from, but you can get a waiver for the rabies vaccine from your vet in Wisconsin. Pixie had a good sized lump that lasted a couple months after her shot. If it happens again when she gets her booster, I'm requesting a titer test and a waiver instead of the shot next time... It might be a good thing to look into, I'd be worried if my pup had a reaction like that! |
