| These stories are all so sweet and loving. Mine isn't really in the same ballpark, but if you knew my husband - this qualifies. Three years ago, my cat had to be put down after getting really sick. We had her for 12 years (she was a stray when I took her in). This was two weeks after being asked to leave a job (first time ever, VERY long story). I started talking immediately about getting another pet, but we also have an Eskimo spitz and at the time my daughter was still living here with her Ragdoll cat. We have white hair flying everywhere - all the time!!! Anyhow, I agreed to wait until my daughter moved out with her cat (to whom I became very attached). I had lots of time during those two years to decide what I really wanted. I thought it was going to be another cat, but after much soul searching and because I'm home much of the time now, I decided I wanted a "lap" animal on my terms. Since I've never known a cat to cooperate, I started looking at very small breed dogs. I just love the Yorkie coloring, that they look like puppies always, that they don't shed, etc. So that is where my decision rested. I began to look for breeders and a price that I could afford. I was going to get a Yorktese from a breeder in Ohio and had a deposit on a puppy due to be born in a few months. I was going with the Yorktese cause hubby didn't want something so tiny or the $ of an all Yorkie. The pups were born premature and all died. I got my deposit back because I didn't want to wait another year to get a pup. I told my hubby that I really wanted a Yorkie and I wanted a tinier one and as this pup was going to be with me for a looooong time (God willing), I wanted what I wanted. He actually began to search and found a few breeders. I fell in love with a picture and although several months earlier than planned, got Sissy. Well, HE PAID FOR HER as a Valentine's Gift, even though she came in November. So not necessarily the most romantic story, but it worked for me (and NO, he doesn't spend anywhere near that amount for any occasion)!!

| My story shows my hubby is a softie though he will not admit it. In December our only dtr got married. Though they lived with us, to me my baby was grown up (19 yrs old). I had a long talk with hubby that I had a hole in my heart that a small puppy would fill. This is a man who has always hated animals in the house though we have had them all our married life. He told me to research small breeds so I could carry a full grown dog around. I have disabilities which limit my physical activities including carrying heavy stuff. So I looked at small poodles and we had agreed that was what I was getting. Then we went to the flea market. There was a breedeer there who had 2 beautiful full grown females. Dh sent me and my son in law back to his booth several times with questions. He was having a litter due in another week and hubby said I could get one and dtr and sil decided to get one also. When we next talked to him he had 1 male pup unspoken for so I told dtr to get it and I would continue looking. The sat before she brought hers home I found Gypsy. We fell in love. I wanted a female anyway and now dh has fallen in love also. Nothing like a 300 lb man cuddling a 4 lb yorkie. He is not even arguing about the vet bills like I thought he would! edited to add: before we got her dh had made a list of what payments would go out of our tax refund, and budgeted was a d&^n puppy! I thought it was funny.
